I couldn't disagree more with Damo's recent post on the "Marxism" thread. Not looking for an argument. Just needed to unburden myself of that.

This is due to regulation. Throwing pitfalls in the way for new business, our government picks and chooses winners, this is not due to "unfettered" capitalism, it is because humans cannot stop themselves from adding socialism into the equation and insist that government make it "fair".

This is again due to socialism. For some reason we simply accepted Canada and other nations simply saying they will only pay "this much" for the same thing, and Americans have just picked up the shortfall. They do this with drugs, with machines, etc.

This is not due to "unfettered capitalism" it is actually the opposite, it is more evidence that when you put government in charge of "fairness" you create a world where your winners and losers have been hand selected by those in power.

Here ya go

I wrote a reply to Damo just a short while ago...and told him in no uncertain terms that I also could not disagree more. You might want to take a look at it. Perhaps it says what you would have...although I did get a bit nasty and you might disagree with that. I normally do not do that with Damo.

Dammo has got the causality backwards.

Other countries keep prices low because their governments negotiate. Americans pay more because our system lets companies charge whatever they want.

That’s not socialism, that’s unregulated pricing power.

If you want to argue about government picking winners and losers, fine. But blaming Canada’s negotiation for U.S. prices is like blaming your neighbor’s budget for your credit‑card bill.

Close to 95% of Americans never read Marx, especially Damo. They couldn't read Marx even if they wanted to. Capital is a long and arduous read.

Well, I'll tell ya wut, cupcakes. The Pilgrims tried Socialism and found out it didn't work, then nixed that bullshit after a season or two.
Way before Marx or The French Revolution. Welcome to America! :awesome:

Work ethic? I never studied much about Hamilton beyond required things in school.
Oh, he was kinda commie. Probably was a Democrat.
Both Marx and Hamilton wanted a strong centralized government. Thomas Paine showed why that will work in the city but not in the country. Paine may have been the first to realize we need 2 forms of government.
