I HATE Aaron Sorkin!

The only exception to the "If I can't eat it, I don't hunt it" is coyote. They are becoming a huge problem in the south.

I completely forgot about coyotes. While I don't make a special effort to hunt them I definitely dispatch every one I can while I am hunting other game.

People who watched the West wing are just brain dead lemmings who liked his non-stop 'the right is evil' message. That show was pathetic.

Never watched it.

He did however have a very funny show on a few years earlier...called Sports Night.

It detailed the day to day at an ESPN clone and was hilarious!

Talking to an old farmer, a few years back, and he was lamenting the amount of ground squirrels that keep screwing up his fields.

His family had been farming the same ground, for at least 4 generations and his take on the entire problem was this.
When there were still wolves around, they kept the coyote problem under control; becuase a wolf will hunt and kill coyotes.
Since coyotes didn't want to be eaten, they would eat more of the ground squirrels; because they were easy for the coyote to get to and then go hide.

Then people got rid of the wolves and the coyote population rocketed.
Over the years, the coyotes grew more bolder and pretty much said "screw the ground squirrels" and went after more of the larger game, like rabbits and such.

This is pretty much the same way with deer populations, elk, moose, etc.
Since we removed the top predator, we now have to replace it with ourselves and we do that now by "culling" herds.
Wolves made herd animals stronger; because they took the weak and injured; whereas we make the herds weaker, by hunting the biggest and largest.

I have started hunting them more and more. Its a challenging hunt when they are the specific prey. Plus, with a call it becomes more proactive.

This sounds like the illuminati explanation on why they have to be fascist genocidal murderers.

I have hunted them before. I am in Kentucky with the in-laws while it is rifle season (for deer) here so I don't get to hunt deer with a rifle. So to kind of fill the void I called coyotes for a couple of years when we went there. We called on in one time and I made a running shot with my 223 and rolled it up at 215 yds. My father-in-law was impressed and I never told him is was blind luck....I mean I was definitely trying to hit the dog but wouldn't want to have to reproduce that shot. He has fewer and fewer coyotes around his place now because someone moved nearby who calls and shoots them quite frequently so I haven't tried to call there since about 2004. We have lots of coyotes around here but when I get some free time to hunt I usually work with my squirrel dog or deer hunt with the stick and string.

They have become a bigger and bigger problem in the south. I started calling them with a mouth call, then bought an electronic call. I have always been told they have the eyesight of turkeys and the sense of smell of dee, and a predator's intellect. I know you have to change your tactics in an area, if you take a shot when there is more than one out there. They learn quickly.

You are right about the senses of the coyote. They are definitely very wary creatures. They catch on to tactics quickly and are hard to get a decent shot at even with a good call. I used both a mouth call and an electronic call in tandem. That seemed to work well for me back when I called them in Kentucky.

Point Heide has a wolf problem right now, have you heard about it in the news down there?

They've been seen and filmed living IN about every major city in the US.

Coyotes are a big problem in my area too. Unfortunately it's illegal to shoot them with a firearm in the city, unless they're attacking you or your property.

The law doesn't say a damn thing about air guns though, so I'm thinking of getting one in a nice .30 cal. Nice and quiet.

Shoot 'em with a firearm and say they were after your teddy bear.

Take your paranoid delusions and go hi-jack a different thread. :palm:

there's nothing paranoid or delusional about realizing that there are people who run the world who aren't politicians. It's called understanding reality.

For instance, the biggest campaign financers actually control how representatives vote in congress. If you don't believe this you're just an idiot.

That is certainly true with regards to AIPAC.
