There are a number of phrases deemed acceptable when said by a particular group (about itself), but offensive when said by anyone else.

It’s not for me to say what black people can call each other but notice no other race or ethnicity, that I’m aware of, puts the same limitations on themselves. That said it’s not showing solidarity for a non black person, especially a white one, to use that phrase.
