I may do it, I may not, Part II

How much Trump is in control of the American government is a matter of great debate, and in any case the plan is to have him gone in no more than two years.

yeah. intolerant bigots would want the guy that is loved by millions to be treated in such a way

it is why you are bigots
Of course, Trump is also hated by millions.

One thing you can say about Trump, he's no milktoast! Loved by millions or hated by millions, very few stand on the fence with this guy!

“Trump says whether he’ll commit to NATO mutual defense guarantee ‘Depends on your definition”

“WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Tuesday injected some uncertainty over whether the U.S. would abide by the mutual defense guarantees outlined in the NATO treaty as he headed to its summit — comments that could revive longstanding concern from European allies about his commitment to the military alliance.”

“Depends on your definition,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday as he was headed to The Hague”

Must be he don’t want to let all those allies know his battle plans

Most likely he hasn’t a clue what he is going to do, probably didn’t even know the meeting was scheduled and who was attending.

Interesting to see if he again shoves his way to make sure he is front and center of the group photo

I suspect Trump doesn't want to get roped into fighting Russia more than the U.S. already is for stupid reasons. If that's the case, kudos to him.

I now see that there's a youtuber named Sebastian Sas, who I've come to admire, who basically believes what I suspect concerning Trump's reason for being nuanced here. Quoting from a youtube video he just released a few hours ago:

Rutte Congratulates Trump

Trump cast doubt on Article 5 commitment on route to NATO summit.
Asked whether the United States remains committed to NATO's Article 5
clause, Trump told reporters on Air Force One, "Depends
on your definition. There are numerous definitions of Article 5.
You know that, right? But I'm committed to being their friends." Trump
is totally correct on this one, because NATO's Article 5 is
not as clear-cut as certain people make it sound. NATO's Article 5
is not a blank check for NATO member states to go and do whatever they
want regarding Russia, to keep poking the bear. That's
not how Article 5 works. Article 5 is meant to protect NATO
member states in the event of an attack. But if you poke the bear, and in
the end you take one step too far and then the bear fights
back, the NATO alliance doesn't have to protect you, because you've been
irresponsible. That's what Trump is alluding to. And he's
probably gonna say it openly to the people in the Hague at the NATO summit.

A copy of message from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, sent to Trump before the summit began:

The U.S. president, while en route, published a screenshot of a private message from Rutte saying: “Donald, you have driven us to a really, really important moment for America and Europe and the world. You will achieve something NO American president in decades could get done.”

“Europe is going to pay in a BIG way, as they should, and it will be your win,” Rutte wrote. NATO confirmed that he sent the message.

Rutte appeared unconcerned that Trump aired it, telling reporters: “I have absolutely no trouble or problem with that because there’s nothing in it which had to stay secret.”

Rutte knows that flattery will get you everywhere with Trump. Greasing Trump's palm doesn't hurt either.

Of course, world leaders, and anyone in Trump’s cabinet, learned from Zelensky, if you want something from Trump, just kiss his ass, massage his ego, you got acknowledge his narcissism
