I told you the GOP didn't get it!

Bless their hearts, McConnell and Boehner came out after the mid-terms with a new tone, they had heard the voice of the people, and they understood the message! Then... they proceeded to give in and cave on virtually everything Obama and the Democrats put before them in this lame duck session. Amazing!:whoa:

For probably the first time in American history, the losing party in a lame duck session, was able to pass numerous bills with huge social reforms, and massive appropriations on their way out the door. Leaving Republicans wondering, what the hell happened? We have an historic blowout election, the likes of which haven't been seen in 70 years, and the LOSING party, is able to ram through all of this absolute garbage, before we can seat the newly elected Congress? Legislation the new Congress would have NEVER supported! In a matter of a few weeks, the GOP was able to completely erase all political momentum gained from the massive landslide on Nov. 2, and give Obama and Company 'victory' after 'victory' to crow about, enough so, that Obama has now been dubbed 'The New Comeback Kid!' What's more, it was a total affront to the democratic process itself. The voters resoundingly sent a message to Washington, and voted these people out of power, yet they were able to raid our coffers one last time, for old time sake! Republicans not only stood by and watched it happen, they participated in it, and tried to claim it was "the best deal we could get!"

The GOP should have defiantly REJECTED the compromise agreement on the Bush tax cuts. They should have forced taxes to go up on Jan. 1, then the new Congress could have came back and lowered them on Jan. 5, on OUR terms! They should have stuck to being the 'Party of NO!' And ALL of this shit, should have been stonewalled, filibustered, and denied, until the seating of the new Congress. Instead, the GOP decided to suddenly become the 'Party of YES!' ....Because, that's what the American people want... they want us to all get along! That's the message from the voters in the recent elections... Republicans should try to be nicer, get along with, and work together more with the Democrats and Obama... 'cause that's what we really want! This is precisely why I said I didn't think the GOP "got it!"

No, Establishment Pubs, we DON'T want you to "get along" with Democrats! We didn't elect you to "get along" with them! We elected you to stand up and fight them, and not relent! That is exactly why many of your colleagues have been sent home, and apparently why we will have to continue sending you home, as your various elections come up. We want people to stand up and fight for Conservative principles and values, like Jim DeMint, Jeff Sessions and Michelle Bachman are doing. This was no time to cave in and give in to liberal Democrats, and allow Obama one 'victory' after another! What has happened in this lame duck session, is a total embarrassment to the GOP and highly offending to true Conservatives.

The fact that extremists on both sides hate the deal tells me it's a good one.

Buck up, or go drive the truck!

extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.
The man that said this also defended the right of homosexuals to serve in the military. He is denounced now by his own party. Even Barry Goldwater is seen as too moderate for the holy party of god in America.

Both parties compromised and got something done.

That may seem like an extremist position, but its about damn time.

the goldwater republicans are not the same as the mainstream republicans. We Libertarians also defend the right of homosexuals to serve their country.

What the hell makes you think the voters of America wanted Conservatives to COMPROMISE with Liberals? Is THAT what you think the message of the TEA Party was, to COMPROMISE? Any "compromise" was the total LOSS of Conservatives! We won the goddamn elections... why the fuck do you think we should be "compromising" a damn thing?

What seems like an "extremist" position to me, is people under some delusion that America wants 'bipartisanship' in passing this load of liberal spending bullshit! I don't think that is the message voters sent AT ALL, and I think you are going to find that out in short order.

Now, just WHAT "compromise" do you figure in your pea noodle, did the Democrats make here? Extending the Bush tax cuts? They were going to have to do that anyway, unless they wanted to raise everybody's taxes! Obama wasn't going to blatantly reverse a campaign pledge he made repeatedly, it didn't matter what the Republicans did. So what else was there? Anything??? What the hell was "compromised" on part of the Democrats? I'm not seeing it... I am seeing plenty the GOP frittered away, all the way down the line! Not to mention, teeing up the Bush tax cuts to AGAIN be an issue in the next election, by merely extending them. Why hit the reset button on this and let the Democrats trot out the Class Warfare strategy all over again before the 2012 elections? Why not wait a couple of weeks, when you have a strong conservative House, and try to make the tax cuts PERMANENT, and end the issue? It was just sheer stupidity and incompetence on part of the GOP, and a completely LAME political strategy that will probably get Obama re-elected.

My goodness, Dixie. You're an angry man. Where is your compassion and ability to give and take?

Have you always been like this?

Given the fact that the GOP doesn't have the votes in the Senate to make the tax cuts permanent, what would have been gained by waiting "a couple of weeks, when you have a strong conservative House"?

Because, in a couple of weeks, the House could have made them permanent and the Senate would be forced to have an up or down vote on that. Given the alternative would be to raise everyone's tax, enough moderate Democrats would have sided with Republicans to pass it. Remember, many of the Senate seats switched hands as well, the Democrats no longer have an insurmountable majority who can ram through whatever the hell they want.

This bullshit was passed into law by a LAME DUCK Congress! By people who were REJECTED by the voters of America, and sent home! They had no business even casting votes. It's ironic, nowhere else, do we fire people from their jobs, yet let them to continue to work for the company they were fired from... except in Congress!

I lost my ability to "give in take" with liberals, oh... back about 1991 or so! Since then, I have come to realize, liberals are just Marxist Socialists and Communists, and there IS NO 'give and take' with their philosophy. You want your liberal philosophy passed into law? Go find some third-world dictatorship and overthrow it, and leave this country to hell alone!

you do realize the gop only has a majority in the house....anything they pass can be shot down by the senate OR obama....

so "our terms" is ignorant, there is no gop terms dixie

But Dix will gleefully vote them all in again and again and again......

THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!!!

Its you who doesn't get it Dix. These guys have been playing you like a cheap fiddle for 25 years, and you still vote for them. Hell, you don't even know who they will nominate in 2012, but you've already asserted that there's "no doubt" you'll be voting for whoever that person is.

Give 'em Hell Dix!

Show 'em how mad you are by VOTING FOR THEM AGAIN!

Great strategy. Its a real head scratcher as to why it doesn't work.

Dixie, the "Conservative" (LOL) would have preferred everyone's taxes go up so he could watch Republicans score a political victory.

Nah, no need. We passed the repeal to DADT. That is enough to send social conservatives like you into a tizzy for years. And that provides plenty of entertainment for the rest of us.
