Paul is an amazing man and if it wasn't for a handful of idiots writing letters in his so-called newsletter.... Does he have racist supporters? Probably. Does that mean he's a racist? Doesn't prove it, but he either looked the other way or he let anybody write things without editorial review by either himself or someone who wasn't a racist. The shit that I've read is ridiculous. Booga booga type stuff. I can't dismiss that lack of judgement. That type of stuff is unforgivable on a social level. For people who think social issues are greater than economic issues, it makes sense that Paul is damaged goods. He's too isolationist on some levels and too stiff on many social issues.

I wish us all good luck with the next 4 years of Obama.

The facts: Gingrich turned 18 in 1961, as U.S. involvement in Vietnam was escalating. But he continued his studies, getting an undergraduate degree in 1965, his Master's in 1968 and his doctorate in 1971.

According to the Selective Service, prior to 1971 "a man could qualify for a student deferment if he could show he was a full-time student making satisfactory progress in virtually any field of study. He could continue to go to school and be deferred from service until he was too old to be drafted."

In addition, the fact that Gingrich had two daughters -- born in 1963 and 1966 -- gave him a III-A classification, putting him far back in the line of people who might have been called to serve.

Verdict: True, but incomplete. Gingrich is correct, that he was not eligible for the draft. But that does not mean he could not have been one of the 3 million Americans who ultimately served in the war.

But there is nothing 'incomplete' about anything......Gingrich was not eligible, period......and of course he 'could have' served....as anyone could have......the fuckin' draft dodger, Bill Clinton "could have" served .....but he decided to ACTIVELY DODGE THE DRAFT and use his connections to get him out of serving after he actually joined the ROTC to avoiod the draft.....seems that was perfectly ok with the pinheads, as was his perjury, cheating on his wife, alleged rape, sexual harassment, etc......
The left will repeat just about any lie the hear as long as it ridicules a conservative.....

If Paul was not drafted he would not have served....he certainly didn't volunteer....just as many of the pinheads on this site, didn't volunteer......like maybe slimey ass Dune.

Clinton not only dodged the draft, but refused to report for duty after joining the ROTC.....

Yeah.....Clinton also used student deferments to avoid service......but I recognize that student deferments are not the same as dodging the draft.......nor are medical deferments......
Both are legitimate reasons to postpone service according the US government............Clinton was a draft dodger dis-spite the lefts attempt to spin .......

I had other priorities in the '60s too....but I joined anyway....

I didn't say you didn't contribute to some effort.....I said what you did was not the military.......you could quit that job anytime you wanted.....
You wouldn't be shot as a deserter....

Yet, you and yours are quick to ridicule and mock the service of G. Bush, for being a jet fighter pilot for the Nat. Guard as if it was nothing......compared to Bill Clinton, George Bush was akin to Audie Murphy even though he never shot a round at an enemy in battle......

You guys need to put issues in perspective.......
