If God were real, you wouldn’t need a book

Whoever wrote the gospels said that he said he was the son of God.

Claiming to be the son of a god was very common at the time.
thats a Christian belief.
It's not a coincidence that only John said Jesus was divine, aka literally God and literally some kind of magical (divine) being. The books of Matthew, Mark and luke didn't, They just refer to him as the son of God because, again, that was very common.
