If Guns were Regulated as Cars?!!

Question: If a person is required to have a permit to carry a gun how are they able to transport the gun from the gun show or from a private sale to their own home?

The permits are for concealed carry. If the gun is locked in a case or in the trunk of a vehicle, it is legal. This varies from state to state, but most states allow unloaded and secured firearms to be transported.

The name is a bit misleading. The fact that sales between private citizens is unregulated is not quite a loophole. If you want to try and regulate every sale between every citizen, then pass a law. Because the laws that require background checks are specifically for dealers, not private citizens.

Well, then. There's another loophole, huh?

All those cars on the roads, yet "in ten states gun deaths actually outpace motor vehicle deaths".

Arizona: 856 gun deaths, 809 motor vehicle deaths
Colorado: 583 gun deaths, 565 motor vehicle deaths
Indiana: 735 gun deaths, 715 motor vehicle deaths
Michigan: 1,095 gun deaths, 977 motor vehicle deaths
Nevada: 406 gun deaths, 255 motor vehicle deaths
Oregon: 417 gun deaths, 394 motor vehicle deaths
Utah: 260 gun deaths, 256 motor vehicle deaths
Virginia: 836 gun deaths, 827 motor vehicle deaths
Washington: 623 gun deaths, 580 motor vehicle deaths

Huh. Aren't these the same states with high numbers of militia groups?

What about the other 40 states??

Oddly, the CDC lists only 11,493 firearm related homicides for 2009. But the study quoted here lists 31,236 gun related deaths. But, according to the CDC, there were 18,735 suicides by firearm. If you add the two numbers together you get a figure much closer to the one listed in the study.

But including suicides is hardly an accurate assessment of the dangers of firearms, unless someone can show the people who shot themselves would not have committed suicide unless they had a gun.

Yeah those numbers are rather deceptive if you aren't aware they include suicide.

Sorry, I will believe the mayors against gun shows!
of course you would. would you also believe the mayors if they told you the moon was made out of green cheese? maybe you should READ THE LAW!!!!!! there is a reason why private firearms can be sold by private persons at gun shows. learn the reason why instead of using bullshit talking points by gun hating mayors.

The rest of your post was irrelevant to your question. I answered it. Quit whining.

The rest of the post was, however, relevant to the discussion at hand. This suggestion of yours would have done nothing at all about what happened in the theater, and it is that event that brought this to the fore. If anything, if guns all disappeared the night before the attack he would have simply brought one of his home made bombs and killed everybody there rather than 12.

Your suggestion is ineffective, it would not have saved even one life.

I find it interesting that those who claim there's a loophole haven't bothered to find out and respond about the reasons why the law was written that way.
