If immortality technology existed, but only the rich could purchase it . . .

Wow, what to do with such a reasoned and well-thought-out rebuttal?

Uhm, no... I live in America, where our laws and courts aren't established on the basis of wealth or status.

Where do you live? ...16th Century Europe?

Of course they are. We are ruled by an oligarchy founded upon aristocracy. By the very nature both systems favor the wealthy at every turn and every level.

Lets say that we invent some new technology that allows one to live forever and perfectly fine.

But it's really expensive, and will always be expensive. Only the top 3% will ever be able to purchase it. And only for themselves and their close family members.

Basically, 97% can't have it.

1) would society outlaw this out of spite?
2) what are your specific thoughts? should it be allowed?

this is not a leading question or a mott-type switcharoo thread.
There was a fascinating movie about this subject: http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/txt/s3346872.htm

They are established that way, but it is exactly the way they are conducted. You live in a bubble if you don't see this. It isn't our rich who mostly occupy our prisons, lthough they comitted crimes, they are much more likely, because of their high lawyers to see less prison time for their crimes.

You're trying to do the same thing as Superfreak. You are looking at results and making a determination on reason. The reason most of the people in prison are black and not white, is because 75% of black babies are born without a father around. Why can't we try to fix that problem? You say, "because of their high lawyers" and I assume you mean "high priced" lawyers, but you fail to give us any example of a law or court which operates on the basis of who has the highest priced lawyer.

Lawyers are "high priced" because they are smart and know the law. They should be compensated for what they bring to the table, don't you think? The LAW is the LAW... it doesn't care if a lawyer is highly-paid, or if a defendant/plaintiff is wealthy. High priced lawyers can't pay off juries, to find in favor of their clients. So where does the fact the lawyer is high priced, relate to how the law is applied differently? I don't get that... you've not made the case, and the problem is, you can't make the case.

Of course they are. We are ruled by an oligarchy founded upon aristocracy. By the very nature both systems favor the wealthy at every turn and every level.

That is certainly the meme you lefties want to keep perpetuating, it's just not the truth.

We are not ruled. We can't be ruled. We have inalienable rights endowed by a Creator. There is no "class" in America, it's something European, which has existed in some form throughout Europe since the Dark Ages, but it is not a tenant of American Constitutional government, and can't be. We are all equal, and the eyes of justice see us all as equal. My challenge has still not been met, and you can't meet it, that's why you must keep repeating the meme.
