If it is right to ask Obama it is right to ask Romney

So should the leader of a nation be open about the beliefs he holds that might affect his decisions? Would you go to a doctor who prescribed magic underwear? Would you trust a man whose personal beliefs are that black people bear the mark of Cain?
Try to remember it is 2012 and not 1812 when you answer.

/grins you should have remembered it is 2012, not 1812 before you asked.....

as to the first question, only if he's a Republican......

If he talks about his religion then Americans will realise the Mormon religion has secrets which they refuse to tell you.

I dont care what religion someone is if they can allow me to know about their religion.

If your religion keeps secrets from other people than I have a perfectly reasonable reason to not trust your religion.

I think a person's irrational beliefs in non-existent beings and fairy tales should be free from all scrutiny.

Pretty much. There's this "no religious test" thing in the constitution. But hey! Look over there! Magic underwear!

Religious bigotry is fun, especially when you get to say "magic underwear".

Can one be bigoted about something that is non existent? One certainly cannot be blasphemous nor can one really be a non believer in the unbelievable.
But it is fun to imagine Superman or Batman fighting Magic Underpantsman.
It would be, in other times, extremely funny to laugh at Twat Romney. Without doubt the most bat shit crazy American of all time. I know there lots more like him but none of them are so ear-bitingly stupid as to want to be president of the USA.

We can rest assured that by this time next year no one anywhere will admit to having voted for him. Mitt? er...Mitt who?

Its NOT just about magic underwear.

Do you realise if you are NOT a mormon you cant not be there at a mormon wedding?

My sister in law could not see her son married becuase she was not mormon.

What do they promise that we are NOT allowed to know about?

They are allowed to dig up gold plates and not report them to the authorities.

There's a big difference between barring someone office because of his or her religion (a religious test) and being critical of a person's religious beliefs.

I don't understand why slapping the "religion" label on a set of beliefs somehow means that set of beliefs is beyond all scrutiny. Also, too, one of the primary features of many religions is that one particular religion is the one true faith and all others are wrong. There's even this one religion that so fervently believes this that it posthumously baptizes people into the faith so that they may gain entry to the kingdom. I forget which one that is though.

In time the two will merge and then by allowing members of both cults not to pay taxes if they move to Salt Lake City, they can be nuked.
The only thing to concern us then would be ...

...

who's next?

First they hated blacks until that got them in trouble so they CHANGED their religion.

Then they kept women as chattle until that one got in the way and they CHANGED their religion.

YET they have secrets we are not supposed to know about.

HMMMMMMMMM can those secrets be worse than the things they ALREADY had to CHANGE their doctrine for?

How do we know they refuse to tell us

No, you are missing the point. Anyone who is in a position of authority and who has to make decisions that affect the lives and well being of millions of people MUST be quizzed on the beliefs he holds dear.
In the next four years your president might have to deal with the Iranians, the North Koreans, the Chinese, the Palestinians. How can he possibly take unbiased objective decisions if he believes that coloured people bear 'the mark of Cain' or that Iran is a clear and present danger, or that Israelis are carrying out the word of some god and therefore cannot be wrong. How can he discuss with Angela Merkel when he has no respect for women? How can he talk to the Chinese when they know he pays more allegiance to a fairy on the planet Kolob than people who inhabit this planet?
THAT is why a potential presidents religion, or lack of it, is important.

That is why Mitty can not talk about his religion.

At some point the answer to a reporters question would be "YOU are not allowed to know the answer"

If your religion has secrets there is a reason the religion keeps that info secret.

Secrets dont belong in this type of government.

The mormon religion keeps secrets that the rest of us are NOT allowed to know.

WHY?????????

Secret handshakes are not the type of secrets we need to worry about. Especially when you can watch them online. Seriously, way overbaked. This from the people who don't think that the grades and papers of the President should be something we seek when checking on qualifications.
