If Tariffs Are "A National Sales Tax"...

Appeal to authority.

Didn't Biden keep some of Trump's tariffs in place, Nerdsperg?

They were nowhere near as drastic or expansive.

A slight tariff on Chinese petroleum is one thing.

A 60% tariff on every single solitary foreign import from every country on Earth is something altogether different.

That should be a matter of common sense.

They were nowhere near as drastic or expansive.

Is that so?

President Joe Biden has indeed retained many of the tariffs that were initially imposed by President Donald Trump.

Biden's administration conducted a review of the Section 301 tariffs on Chinese goods and decided to maintain those tariffs while also proposing to increase rates on specific goods like electric vehicles, batteries, and semiconductors.

This decision reflects a continuation of Trump's trade policies, with some strategic adjustments aimed at sectors critical to U.S. economic and national security interests.

The Biden administration has also introduced new tariffs on certain Chinese imports, effectively expanding on the existing tariff structure rather than dismantling it.

Trump is talking about huge tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada. Will he add more countries? Who does things like that? The only people who like them the rightys here who do not understand tariffs. If Trump wants them, they must be good.
Trump's tariffs are his way of bullying other countries. He was a horrible high school bully and suffers from arrested development.

Nothing to say about the fact that Biden kept most of Trumps tariffs in place and added some of his own, Nerdsperg?

No thoughts about what a threat of additional tariffs might produce as a negotiating tactic, Nerdsperg?

STFU moron. if you can't follow economic capitalism better than the bullshit you're throwing up, let the adults talk here.

So he kept Trumps tariffs what is the big fucking deal?
They are NOT 25. 30, 40, 60, 200% like the ones Trump is saying he wants to put on now.
You MAGA cry that tariffs are good for the US Companies but cry when a DEM keeps them , I guess you morons think they are ONLY good for US manufactures when A Repuk is in the W H.

They aren't?
NO ASSHOLE a 5% tariff doesn't do as much damage to the economy as a 25,30, 40, 60% tariff does,
I see you think it was a good thing when Trump put on what was it a 5% tariff but it is a bad idea for Biden to keep it.
Well I suppose you think it was great for the US manufactures when Trump was in office but not now.
NO a 5% tariff is NOT as damaging as a 25 % or MORE tariffs are,
Again remember it is the Consumer that ends up paying the higher price NOT the exporting countries.
And as a lot of economist are saying That tariffs as large as Trump says he wants will raise prices and could drive us into a Recession / depression.
And it isn't " inflation " these are being put on on purposes, Trump will be inflecting great harm to a lot of AMERICANS , How do you MAGAS think low income people are going to get by, heck some of them are working 2 jobs now to get by ,put tariffs on almost everything they bu and then what are they going to do?
And if they do put us in a deep recession it will drive up unemployment and now take away some of the programs low income people and poor people need and it just makes everything for them harder.
But I guess that is okay with you magas and Trump may destroy the USA as we have known it all our lives.

Let me see your figures.

Tariffs make American companies more competitive in the domestic market. Corporate taxes make American companies less competitive on foreign markets.
How do corporate taxes make American companies less competitive in foreign markets? American companies can write off their foreign taxes against US taxes. US corporate tax rate is similar to most of the world these days.

Let me see your figures.
Are YOU REALLY that stupid??????????
20% is 4X more then 5% 30% is 6X more then 5% and on and on.
Five percent is NOT as damaging as 20, 30 40 60 % you fucking moron.
And those are the types of Tariffs Trump has been talking about putting on imported things and those type of tariffs will be damaging to our economy.
AGAIN stupid it is the CONSUMER that ends up paying the higher price the exporting countries just pass the increase on to the Consumer.

You don't know what a strawman argument is, do you?
I see you are nothing but a troll.

Clearly you are not familiar with what a strawman argument is since it requires a misrepresentation of your opponents argument so that you aren't arguing against their actual argument. Accusing me of a strawman would require you to show how I misrepresented SirThinksALot's argument.
