I'm Driving Cross-country Right Now

It's too bad I saw this thread only today. I'd have invited you to stay at my house in Peoria (Arizona). No, I don't care particularly if we get along politically, it's the polite thing to do. Besides, meeting someone from this board FTF would be interesting. You learn in 10 minutes more about them than you would in 10 years of posts.

That might be a real problem for Lurch.

I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you! I stayed one night in Chandler on the way down. I've been all over AZ. If you get the chance, head up to the Heber/Overgaard area and check out the Rim. It's about 3 hours NE of you, I believe.

Nice of you to comment. I don't think you ever leave your basement. You're either up all night, posting manic horseshit or sleeping off your drugs and booze.

Dry out and leave your cave once in a while. The fresh air won't kill you. Like your booze will.

Tuesday I "pussed out" and only made it from north of Seattle to Portland.

But yesterday I made it all the way from Portland to Reno. My vehicle has a 5.2 liter engine, seat coolers/heaters, cold AC and instant heat and drives like a dream.

It was raining yesterday in Portland, but when I got to Ashland (southern OR) it stopped and my navi took me east over the Sierras, through the Lassen NF in Northern CA and dumped me out in a town called "Susanville, CA". From Susanville it was a straight, 90-mile shot south to Reno. I made it in time to have all you can eat Sushi :)

Note: I'm at the Circus Circus in Reno this morning. DO NOT STAY HERE. I've been coming here since the 80's and it's been great, but they've let it devolve into a dump. Holes in the lampshades, lights flickering in room, no toiletries in the bathroom.

Also, a quick note about traveling alone: Getting back into my vehicle after a pee stop yesterday I heard a couple arguing about the guy's driving - "You drive like a maniac", she screamed at him. <-- I do not mind traveling alone one bit. I have satellite radio - that's all I need :)

Cue - Radar Love!

I can’t imagine leaving the northwest for Texas

But hey dude

You do you

But to answer your question, I just joined a Texas gym chain, so I guess I'm staying. I'm still headed up to Colorado this weekend, though. Have my itinerary all done.

Back on the road right now, headed to Colorado! I'm at a Loves/Subway right now powering down a half-sub.

It's a cool, cloudy day. I'm gaining altitude as I go north, it's possible I could see some snow on the way.

I love driving!

Have a great day, everyone!

You know what I think? That Hawkeye doesn't give a rat's ass what you "think".

Neither do I.

Better to be in a basement than on a cross-country tour of gay bathhouses, Dahmer-style.

You know, I've never done the bathhouse tour. Tell us, was it everything you hoped for?

I'm taking it easy this time. Drove a little over 400 miles. Gonna head down to the bar and check, the Phillies/Astros score.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Sounds fun. I once drove from Pennsylvania to Indiana in a 12-hr stretch. One dream of mine is to buy a motorhome and drive across the country with my wife.

You'll love it! And you can make a living doing it. All kinds of RV parks hire full-time RV'ers for everything from cleaning the park to selling camping memberships.

I wouldn't need to make money.

Good for you! I had an easy drive today. I'm heading back to San Antonio a different way than I came. In 6 hours, I drove through 3 states today, Colorado, New Mexico, and finally Texas. I'm almost back home, y'all!
