No, when you paid, you were paying for the seniors who were alive when you were paying. There is no trust fund for Medicare where the money you pay in for it in tax is then sealed away until you retire, it is an income transfer.

What we really need is some Conservative individual responsibility where instead of paying tax for government programs for the elderly, we move back to what we used to have with taxing people less so they can save for their own retirement and healthcare when they are older.

And so, we move from a system that has everyone covered adequately, to one where only a few people are covered adquately, but at least they "did it themselves"?

Sicko is pure propaganda. I merely watched the movie for entertainment reasons because I will admit that Michael Moore is a funny guy, but I took the movie with a grain of salt. There is no such thing as free health care. I will agree on one point though, insurance companies suck, and will do anything to get out of the deal. I support people's endeavors against insurance companies that will not pony up. I do not believe in Universal Health Care though. Mr. Moore did not show any of the cons associated with UHC. He needs to present both sides of the argument if he wants to become a real documenter.

Additionally I would put time restraints on the amount of time they are allowed to let a claim linger unless they have reasonable proof that fraud is involved. I also think that there should be oversight when they are coming up with their premium prices too. Insurance companies have shit loads of reserves yet never seem to pay anything out.

Being the communist that I am I'd also outlaw direct incentives for denying claims.
