Immigration

Har, nice way to build a straw man while simultaneously going off on a tangent.

You believe americans should have their lifestyles destroyed and be forced to do with less. You freely admit the negative effect on the labor market, And you're FOR IT. Because you hate americans.

Yeah, life's a trade-off, isn't it.

If some Americans want to pursue a higher standard of living, don't bitch about those who are satisfied with less.

If some Americans refuse to do crap jobs for minimum wage or worse, don't bitch at the people who will.

It's called tolerance, surely a foreign concept to you.

Damm socialist, always trying to have open immigration...

Ohh, wait, does that argumetn work here?

Have you heard of citizenship? That must be foreign to you.

Nations function to enhance the lives of it's citizens, when it is dedicated to destroying their standard of living through labor market manipulation, it is illegitimate.

Sometimes these macro policies make a huge difference in what people can do to better their lives.

you would have told slaves to just work harder and quit complaining too.

you are virulently anti-american and hateful.

There's only one way to stop illegal immigration. Shut down companies who hire them and put the people who hire them in jail. Illegals come here to work. Put them out of work and they will go home.

I say open up immigration.....any alien who can demonstrate they have a job paying a living wage plus health insurance can apply for a work visa......make the employer pay a surcharge of $1 per hour worked to cover the expense of operating the immigration oversight program.....any employer who's been exploiting illegal immigrants at substandard wages to be sent overseas to work at prevailing local wages until they have earned enough money to come home....
The problem with that is that you'd have an eventual outcome of increasing the supply of labor while decreasing demand due to oversupply. Ultimately that would drive wages down significantly for working class Americans. I actually almost do agree with you. I'd agree with you if the Immigrant has a masters degree or technical education that places their skills in demand.

The presence of the illegals depresses the wages such that nobody who lives here can afford to do those jobs.

The business owners who hire illegals pay for the elections of the corrupt policy makers.

The people must seize control and seal the border.
We don't need to seal the border. In fact we can't seal the border. That's just a silly notion. Sealing the border is treating the symptom and not the problem. Adress the problem, Companies who hire illegal immigrants, and you solve the problem. If there's no demand for illegal cheap labor, then the illegals stop coming over if they cant' find jobs.

Of course there's a price to be paid for that.

So does anyone here know if I hire a cleaning gal who is obviously not from the U.S. and pay her $100 in cash once a month am I breaking the law if I don't ask to see her legal citizen documents/work visa?

I'll go out on a limb and say "no". You wouldn't ask to see documents for other people who did various jobs for you. For example, somebody who mowed your lawn on a regular basis.

When you think about it there are a lot of people in our country who hire cleaning ladies for their homes and there are a lot of people like those you mention who will do work for your lawn. Many big or bigger cities have known areas where you can pick up day laborers who are most likely not here legally. Put that all together and you have a lot of labor right there being hired by non-corporations.

So for Crashk to say illegal immigration will stop if we crack down on corporations that hire them is only getting at a portion of the problem.

No. The problem is a corrupt mexican government that keeps the economy substandard so the people have to come across the border for work.

But this plays into the NWO dream of making american less white, because white people are bad.

I assume you took her SS# so you could fill out her W2 and send in her tax withholdings?.........

haha... you assume wrong! But legally is that what I would be required to do or hypothetically if she was an independent contractor would she do all that on her own?

Both. We need to make easier for those that want to work and need to work to come here legally, and we need to better enforce the laws we have against hiring or housing illegals.
Do we? What about those of us who are citizens? Don't we have a right to protect our labor market and keep supply low and demand high so that we can demand higher wages and thus a higher standard of living? Wouldn't what your suggesting undermine the labor market to the disadvantage of working people by creating over supply and corresponding decrease in wages and the standard of living?

it is getting at the vast majority of the problem. Not just a portion.

I say we swap land. We give them Detroit... they give us Cabo. They get Buffalo and Syracuse. We get Riviera Maya and Cancun....etc...

Yes, we could seal our border.
