Five Indian-American members of Congress were sworn in on Tuesday, including California Sen. Kamala Harris and Rep. Pramila Jayapal from Washington state.

Seven new members of the Senate joined those who won re-election in receiving the oath of office from Vice President Joe Biden.

House Speaker Paul Ryan swore in 52 new members of the House of Representatives.

Harris is the first Indian American to ever serve in the U.S. Senate.

Jayapal is the first Indian-American woman to join the U.S. House of Representatives.

Vol isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, that's for sure..........

He needs to go try to find out how that is possible now................

I do not see what race has to do with Kamala Harris- or anyone else as a matter of fact!

I just hope that women and girls are finally witness to that glass ceiling breaking a little more every day!

My God, even Planet Of The Apes had women leaders in the ranks! About time for America!

HOORAY FOR WOMEN! Congratulations WOMEN!

For a liberal to say your first sentence in 2020 you must be old and white. Am I wrong?

I am so old, I know all four Beatles by their first and last names.

And yes, I'm too White- need a little Vitamin D!

But I'll say it again and again- YOU PEOPLE NEED TO STOP LOOKING AT PEOPLE BY RACE!

We are all Americans here! We are all just people man! TRY TO UNDERSTAND OK?

Not that what you’re saying is wrong but your answer doesn’t fly in 2020.

If one was to defend you they would use a generational ignorance argument.

In 2020 the progressive woke position is to say you do see race and see BIPOC and their experiences through that lense. To say you don’t see color or we’re all humans is at minimum white privilege and at worst supporting white supremacy.

That’s the world we live in today.

Which view do you hold today??

Don't overthink it.

Let's just try to make America a better place.

If you want to be a conservative- Fine- nothing wrong with that! But use your politics in a positive way friend!

PLEASE LEAD YOUR REPUBLICANS BACK TO SANITY AND GRACE! YOUR LEAD SIR!

Far closer to Geeko’s. I believe we’re all God’s children and believe in the golden rule. I have the mindset to treat everybody with respect and while recognizing that we all have differences and different experiences ultimately there is far more that unites us than divides us as people. I don’t think what’s happening in terms of how we view race as described in the previous post is moving us in a more positive direction.

However as was stated in White Fragility I shouldn’t even say what I just wrote. It’s my (our) job as white people to shut up and listen and nothing else.

I certainly agree w/ the highlighted, & have known you long enough to know you mean that....

Not sure what you mean though about how we view race as described??

Sorry, that was confusing. I was referring to the previous post I wrote Geeko and how today we are not viewed as all just humans but rather by our race and gender as our defining characteristics. I think it’s ultimately moving us in a less positive direction.

Perhaps that is true on the macro, but certainly not true in the micro, one on one, groups, neighbors etc.......

But it’s that macro that dominates the narrative and it’s also a generational thing. I was with some family friends this past weekend and they have two college age girls (white family) and I heard it all. They used the proper pronouns for everyone, spoke about BIPOC and how we as white people should act and treat them and the whole racial gammit. These girls both go to UC’s, they are smart women. But if I had tried to say something like “we’re all members of the human race” they would have chopped my head off. There’s a huge generational thing at play here.

Your stupidity and dishonesty never disappoints. Her mother was from India. That marks her Indian. Her father was a black man from Jamaica. Now take your time and think about it. Wouldn't that maker her black? Giggle giggle.

Trump supporters are dizzy from Trump spinning them in circles.

lol, how did you expect them to act in front of others?? Everyone knows the talk & how to walk.............

You assume that is what & how they would be if you were not there??

I wouldn't, but then I don't know them either.....

I deal w/ lots of young ppl all the time.........

The rubber does not meet the road there........... I can lay out many personal examples of them, as well as my own kids but perhaps that is just foreign to most of you, I dunno.............
