Inspecter General investigation into the DOJ

Where does the bit about Ivy league come from?

Top 20 ranked law schools NOT in the Ivy League.
2 - Stanford
5 - NYU
6 - UC Berkeley
7 - U Chicago
9 - Northwestern
9 - U Michigan
9 - U Virginia
12- Duke
14- Georgetown
15- Vanderbilt
16- UCLA
16- UTexas - Austin
18- USC
19- Washington
20- George Washington

15 Schools of the top 20 are not Ivy league.

Given that there are only 7 or 8 Ivy Schools it was a given that the majority of the top 20 Law Schools would not be Ivy Schools. Thanks Captain Obvious.

Even IF it was always the top 20 law schools rather than just the Ivys, that is still wrong to have that as a litmus test. What if you had the Bill Gates of Lawyers go to the University of Podunk Law and he was elminated due to the fact that his peers did not test well? (or whatever the "judgement" is in determining the "top" schools)

There were four criterion, one of which was attendance at a top 20 school. The others, as I said previously, were being in the top 20% of your class in any law school, clerking for a federal judge or being on the law review.

And really, all of this is a smokescreen for illegal hiring practices at the Department of Justice.

I agree that the current practice also sucks and from your post way up above that it is not legal if they did indeed use the apparent political leanings of the individuals against them as the report suggests.

But I still do not believe that the Top 20 school portion should be in there as it has nothing to do with individual merit.

This was part of the PLAN for a permenant majority of the the republican party.

They did this to effect who and what got prosecuted and who got investigated for what.

This is one of the main reasons the real election fraud was never looked into.

This is the reason we have the Seagaleman case.

More DOJ bullshit.

Exclusive: Bush White House Pushed Grant for Former Staffer
Evangelical Group With the White House Connections Awarded $1.2 Million Grant.
By MURRAY WAAS and ANNA SCHECTER
June 24, 2008
A former top official in the White House's faith-based office was awarded a lucrative Department of Justice grant under pressure from two senior Bush administration appointees, according to current and former DOJ staff members and a review of internal DOJ documents and emails.

(ABC News / AP GraphicsBank)
More PhotosThe $1.2 million grant was jointly awarded to a consulting firm run by Lisa Trevino Cummins who previously headed Hispanic outreach efforts for the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, and a California evangelical group, Victory Outreach.

The grant was awarded over the strong objections of career DOJ staff who did not believe that Victory Outreach was qualified for the grant and that too great an amount of the funds was going to Cummins' consulting company instead of being spent on services for children.

Cummins' company, Urban Strategies LLC, was slated to get one third of the money for helping the self-described "evangelizing" Victory Outreach use the rest of the funds.

Desh they were hiring prosecutors. SOme people to investigate and prosecute civil rights claims etc. They teach from the exact same books at Harvard and Yale that they teach from at University of New Mexico Law school and the law school at UNLV. They don't know any secret prosecutorial tricks at harvard that they don't know anywhere else. When you hire from Harvard or Yale solely because that person came from Harvard or Yale it is elitist.

Sorry Desh, this is not the same thing...
