This right here is hall of fame material, you can't get any more stupid than this. You are proposing the notion that common sense is how you get GIANT pores to trap tiny material that is 1000 times smaller than the opening. Common sense tells us that the openings need to be smaller than the stuff that is supposed to get trapped in the holes, and here you are trying to defend the notion that openings 1000 times larger than the virus are somehow supposed to stop them.

No, common sense is not how giant pores trap viruses that are 1000 times smaller. You have made it to the stupid lefty hall of fame. You are probably more stupid than @Nordberg.

It's called physics. Filtration is a science. Filters stop particles that are smaller than the pores through several processes.

Physics principle 1 - Objects in motion tend to stay in motion. Objects that are larger tend to move with the airflow. If the airflow suddenly shifts the object can't shift as quickly because of physics. This causes the object to run into a strand of the mask, stopping it's forward motion. An object that is no longer moving does not pass through the mask. Simple physics. To do a simple experiment one needs only a strong fan, some ping pong balls and a chain link fence. All the air from the fan will pass through the fence but any ball that hits a wire will bounce back and not pass through.

Physics principle 2 - For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. This is Brownian motion. Brownian motion has been explained to you and you have shown yourself incapable of understanding. Small objects tend to move in random motions because atoms vibrate when they are above absolute zero. Vibration is movement. Objects hitting each other cause the objects to move in the opposite direction. A virus moving with a billion vibrating nitrogen and oxygen atoms will bounce around just as all the nitrogen and oxygen atoms will bounce around. Items that bounce around are more likely to hit a strand of the mask and because every action requires an opposite reaction, hitting a strand will cause the virus to bounce back from the mask fiber and not pass through or lose it's motion all together.

Physics principle 3 - Gravity. (It sucks.) All objects are pulled by gravity. Objects tend to settle out of the air. This includes small objects such as viruses. Any virus in the air will eventually settle out once it loses it's motion. Masks cause particles to slow down and eventually stop moving when they strike mask fibers that are stationary. Which leads us back to the first principle only in this case objects not in motion tend to stay not in motion so the virus is trapped in the mask.

I am quite familiar with Newton's laws of motion, and I am very familiar with brownian movement. You have failed to explain how the air flow through the filter that is powered by the act of breathing effects brownian movement, and you have failed to explain what conditions need to be present in order for brownian motion to filter out tiny viruses with enormous pores. Brownian motion only works as a filter under certain conditions. Particle size, gap size, and pressure, etc.

It seems you aren't familiar with Newton's laws of motion or brownian motion when you make idiotic statements like the ones I highlighted in red. Brownian motion occurs in all air flows no matter what the air speed is so asking how breathing affects it is ridiculous. Brownian motion does not work as a filter. Brownian motion is the random movement of the particle. Do you have any other idiotic statements you want to make?
