I don't care what the fake news says, and once again you altered my quote.Iran Tightens Its Grip on Hormuz Despite Cease-Fire
Trump demanded opening the strait. Tehran’s Revolutionary Guard is limiting ship traffic and charging tolls
Iran told mediators it would limit the number of ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz to around a dozen a day and charge tolls under the cease-fire struck by President Trump, showing Tehran plans to tighten its grip on the world’s most important energy-shipping lane.
Ships that pass will have to coordinate with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the powerful paramilitary group that has been labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the European Union, Arab mediators said.
Yup. It's all a farce. Nothing is actually closed. It's ultimately fear within people's minds that is so-called "closing" it, not anything that Iran is actually doing (as they don't have the means to close the Strait). What happens is that Iran tells people it is no longer safe to cross, this causes insurance companies to go apedooky and start charging ridiculous rates for them to cross the strait, this effectively shuts it down with minimal activity from anyone at all.
Pretty much. A ship can make the passage and yes, there's some chance whatever it is, and it is likely pretty low right now, that Iran may try to stop that ship by attacking it, but the straight isn't closed. The Strait has never actually been closed. It has only ever "been closed" within people's minds.
They have spent years setting up bunker style asymmetrical "bases" in the mountains by the strait. Inside are things they can use to harass and harm ships as they go past. I have no idea how many dedicated jackwipes they have ready to go to the sites, but they have means to cause harm, this is why the insurance companies go apedooky...Yup. It's all a farce. Carpet bomb the sites and collapse the tunnel entrances. Leave them digging them out only to have them carpet bombed in the middle of doing that a second, third, or 27th time. Sooner or later the Iranians will learn digging them out is a waste of time. They have spent years setting up bunker style asymmetrical "bases" in the mountains by the strait. The issue is we only are sure where one is, when it is used on a ship. This is like waiting for a serial killer to kill one more victim so you can watch their body drop site to arrest them...Carpet bomb the sites and collapse the tunnel entrances. No, it's obvious. Even on Google Maps it's obvious. We can see the bunker entry points. What's inside doesn't matter. Flatten them all and let Iran deal with that problem. For the islands in the strait that Iran controls, literally carpet bomb them end to end and turn them into the surface of the moon. Since there'll be no means greater than a shovel to dig anything out, that ends their usefulness in one blow. The issue is we only are sure where one is, when it is used on a ship. This is like waiting for a serial killer to kill one more victim so you can watch their body drop site to arrest them...

Hoping and wishing does not change the facts that ships cannot transit the Strait of Hormuz. It's not closed...

Basically correct. The Iranians have the power to threaten the ships transiting the Strait, and so no one is willing to try. They have spent years setting up bunker style asymmetrical "bases" in the mountains by the strait. Gardner thinks he has thought of things no one else has. Sadly, he is decades late to the party.Carpet bomb the sites and collapse the tunnel entrances. Leave them digging them out only to have them carpet bombed in the middle of doing that a second, third, or 27th time. Sooner or later the Iranians will learn digging them out is a waste of time.

I recognize that Iran isn't the one holding a winning hand here. All they have is bluffing. The problem is whether the US will call that bluff or fold.Gardner thinks he has thought of things no one else has. Sadly, he is decades late to the party.
You have already lost that bet, and it is a bet that actual ship owners and the insurance companies they need are not willing to make. They can transit and Iran can try to stop them. My bet is Iran doesn't have the means to do that.
Or maybe because they have more knowledge and intelligence than you have. When you build a shipping fleet, get back to us.Only because shippers and insurers have no balls.
Whining about trump giving Iran a winning hand does not change that it happened.I recognize that Iran isn't the one holding a winning hand here.
Wow, you have an even worse image of trump than I do. You think trump gave Iran the Strait of Hormuz because they out bluffed him.All they have is bluffing. The problem is whether the US will call that bluff or fold.
None of which would open the Strait of Hormuz. It makes them less willing to ever open the Strait of Hormuz. If it was me, no ceasefire and lots of carpet bombing on everything in Iran. Wipe out the power grid. Breech every dam. Take down every road and rail bridge. Crater every road coming into the country for miles. Do the same thing to rail lines. Flatten every government building regardless of its purpose. Smash every factory and manufacturing site into rubble.
There is no one left to negotiate with now. There would be even less than no one to negotiate then. When Iran tries to negotiate, ignore them.
You need to stop getting your news from CNN and MS NOW because they aren't giving you the news. Iran is so fucked in this war it isn't funny. You have already lost that bet, and it is a bet that actual ship owners and the insurance companies they need are not willing to make.

Gardner's neo-con ambitions are running into reality.
What war? trump has a truce, remember? You need to stop getting your news from CNN and MS NOW because they aren't giving you the news. Iran is so fucked in this war it isn't funny.
There wouldn't be a truce if there wasn't a war. What war? trump has a truce, remember?
It's hardly war against The United States. There wouldn't be a truce if there wasn't a war.
Ships CAN and DO transit the Strait every single day. It is NOT closed (otherwise ships wouldn't be transiting through it). It is only "closed" within people's imaginations (and this is largely related to the insurance issue that Damocles mentioned).Hoping and wishing does not change the facts that ships cannot transit the Strait of Hormuz.
Ergo, the Strait is only "closed" within people's imaginations. Ships can and do go through it every single day.Basically correct. The Iranians have the power to threaten the ships transiting the Strait, and so no one is willing to try.
Gardner's idea would work. It might not be the prettiest way to go about it, but it would work.Gardner thinks he has thought of things no one else has. Sadly, he is decades late to the party.
He chose a war because he raped children. Then he fucked up that war beyond all belief. He wrecked global oil markets and handed Iran sovereign control over the strait. We have never had a worse president in history. This wasn't even an issue before Trump started his war. Prior to March 3, maritime traffic was flowing through the Strait unimpeded.
