When all is said and done....it's their country, they have to work this out.
The ONLY reason why the USA is hyped on this is because of our umbilical cord to Israel....who rightly have a point of contention with Irans support of anti-Israel organizations and terrorists. But since Israel has had a nuke arsenal for decades that's in violations of the very rules we are wailing against N. Korea about, the Iranians are not just going to chuck their nuke plans because of the "rules".
But let's not forget, folks......the USA undermined a democratically elected leader in Iran and replaced him with the despotic Shah Pahvil. The Shah was eventually overthrown by the only decently organized group, the religious right. Small wonder why they hate the USA.
Iran did have a burgeoning democratic reform movement that was lead by the nephew of the late Ayatollah Kohmeini a few years back...but I haven't heard about them since 9/11 and the Shrub's "axis of evil" speech.
And even if by some miracle Ahmadinejad is replaced, this doesn't mean that Iran will suddenly become US friendly as we would like it. There's a lot of history and cultural differences that don't mix well.
It's a big mess, and for the defeated neocons to try and make political hay about this against Obama is not only absurd, but essentially playing right into the hands of the Iranian Supreme leader and Ahmadinejad...who will blame anyone but themselves for their people's dissatisfaction.
