The navigable part of the Strait is less than 2 miles wide. They can attack that with artillery, rockets, and drones. Such a small area is easy to destroy anything in, and the rockets and drones can be launched from just about anywhere in Iran. While the artillery has to be closer, there is a large amount of Iranian land with great cover to shoot from.

And yet, they haven't attacked with any rockets or drones. Why do you think that is halfwit?

Iran has at least once used a drone to attack a tanker, but has mostly used artillery to warn off tankers. Tankers have mostly avoided risking loss, so have not needed to be sunk. Rockets would likely sink a tanker.
