Is a man's life worth less than a 12 pack of beer?

Troy D. Rector, 45, stole a 12-pack of beer from a gas station in southeast Houston, according to police.

A 19-year-old clerk chased him down and shot him several times.

Rector died at the scene.

Under Texas law, you can use deadly force to protect yourself or your property if a crime is being committed and you’re in "fresh pursuit."

Excerpt that Vagina must have felt un-necessary to address also.

"...Workers at the gas station say Rector was a brazen shoplifter.

"The one guy come here every day and he steals a 12-pack and 20-pack every day," said M. D. Zaman, another store employee..."

So because workers at the gas station say the dead man stole beer daily, it was OK to chase him down and shoot him dead, instead of having the man arrested?

Decide what?

A 19-year-old clerk was judge, jury and executioner already.

You can literally say that about any time somebody is killed... It literally means nothing more here than there. However, the kid who shot him will likely get a trial and a jury will decide.

A jury can't bring a dead man back to life.

Why would anyone kill another human for stealing beer?

Why would anyone kill another human for stealing beer?

Why should they kill another human for cutting them off in traffic? I'll trade you worthless questions for worthless questions...

Does Texas law say you can kill someone for cutting you off in traffic?

Does Texas law say you can kill someone for cutting you off in traffic?

It depends on whether you feel your life is threatened, don't you know about "stand your ground" laws? Did that make your question worth more than its weight in stupid?

So when the clerk chased down and killed the man, how was his life threatened?

How much of your life is spent trying to find an emotive response from others?

Does your response mean that this post was a meaningless dodge?

Does your question mean that you understand that asking emotive questions when others have clearly answered you already never adds anything worthwhile to the discussion?

This is a very good thing. It's a good thing to kill scumbags and parasites

Im glad he's dead :)

i can't believe that is legal. that law needs to be changed. life is worth more than property.

better not steal. if you are dumb enough to steal shit from others with this law in place, then you obviously aren't a bright citizen and it's likely best you are put down.

shooting the man several times seems a bit excessive, however, a repeat offender needed to be stopped

it will be interesting to see how the grand jury rules in this case and if it goes to trial how the jury rules

So instead of calling police and having the man arrested for theft, it's better to shoot him to death for stealing beer?
