Since the first centuries of Islam, Arabic-speaking commentators of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faith used the term Allah as a generic term for the supreme being.
Well to be fair the term derived from the Aramaic term, El Eloh. That would make both Jewish and Islamic God equivalent. God of Abraham and Issac.

A Jew cannot step into a church because it is considered in jewish law to be a house of idolatry(because of trinity and making a man a God mainly), but a jew can only go pray at a mosque if no synagogue is around(because maimonides says Ishmaelites worship 1 God like the Jews).
