Is anyone here in disagreement with the Democrat prediction of gaining house seats?

The one thing I learned from 2016 is that you will not know until after the polls close. If Trump's campaigning works I fear every President from here on out will be Campaigner in Chief trying to replicate it.

An interesting observation. What if his incessant campaigning fails?

Sometimes I think that the president is just a figurehead. Your comment confirms.

If it fails you'll get the same ole...

Trump is taking a page from Obama here, though he's doing it much more...

Thread is wrong. it is not a Democratic prediction. Almost all the polls hold it. Even rightys can figure out that parties have trouble reading tea leaves in a neutral fashion. But polls are damn accurate.

I take your point, & thank you for it. BUT !!
Speaker Pelosi was guest on Stephen Colbert. There Pelosi predicted the Dems would take back the house. She's a Democrat.

Don't forget the 2016 presidential election. Hillary was the predicted winner more than 12 months in advance of the vote.
I KNOW !! She won the vote (as predicted) and lost the election. But ADEQUATE polling should have mentioned that BEFORE the election. I read no account of it until AFTER the election.

It's consistent with historic trends. The U.S. voter prefers divided government. And Pelosi was alert enough to say next Tuesday's vote would provide the voter a means to put a check (as in checks & balances) on this Republican party.

It's not 'Free'.

The ONLY thing 'Medicare for All' does is eliminate the 'For-Profit Insurance Companies' with a 'Non-Profit Insurance Company'.
Same 'Policy' for everyone with no hidden loopholes, NO Shareholders demanding higher Quarterly Dividends, NO Executives with exorbitant Salaries.
No, that is not all it does. Rationing would be the only way to control costs. Many people would die due to the poor quality and lack of resources. Think.

And don't forget demagoguery! If Trump's campaigning works, it's a huge victory for the power of fear.

Yup.

This election is a ‘must win’ for democrats. Republicans would suffer a set back, but no more than what’s expected in an off year election for the party in power. Democrats need to be wary of thinking that simply winning the House means that things are back to the pre-Trump normal they so desperately long for lol.

It’s been a painful process but republicans are starting to coalesce behind Trump. Kavanaugh was a pivotal moment in that regard. In contrast, democrats are split between radical socialists and what remains of centrist democrats.

Already spinning the loss Tuesday, eh?

Hillary had the most votes. that is what was predicted. it did not do electoral college results though. Fact is outside of the 3 industrial states that blew the election, the polls were within 1 percent.
So Pelosi said that. She was actualy trying not to sound too confident, but the reporter asked if she were measuring the curtains. In spite of right wing claims, pelosi is not the party.

This does concern me, if Trump continues to be successful in his "campaign style" the Democrats will adopt it, and then we are lost to a less healthy politic than we previously had.

The thing is, it has not been particularly effective, he barely beat Hillary, but it appears to have been effective because many only consider the final result.

If a Football team drinks beer instead of practice, then goes on to beat a terrible team with a last second field goal, that does not mean the beer was a good strategy.

a) I have long suspected over-confidence did Hillary in 2016.

b) "Up until today I would have said if the election were held today we would win." "What now I'm saying is, we will win." Speaker Pelosi 18/10/30
"Pelosi said that. She was actualy trying not to sound too confident" Nb #74
Pelosi seemed not merely confident, but not much shy of boastful.

And in my arrogant opinion (to quote holy scripture) "pride goeth before a fall". "Don't count your chickens before they've hatched."

How come First World Countries haven't abolished their 'socialised' Health Care Systems if that is the case?

Please.

Hardly a day goes by without some liberal comparing Trump to Hitler or of accusing him of dog whistling to white supremacists.

If that isn’t fear mongering nothing is.
