Is China preparing for war?

No, not particularly. China is the new rising super-power in the world. China is looking to rival the US at sea and maintain a large standing army. They are working towards having large aircraft carriers and the ability to project power like the US does. Political rivalries of this sort are the norm in history. What's not normal is having a single super-power without conflict.

The real question is Who does Russia side with, the US or China? They're going to be the tie breaker. The EU is militarily worthless. India will remain a secondary military power for decades although they too are increasing their forces because of fear of China. It is an almost certainty India sides with the US in the coming rivalry.

Japan and Korea are already US allies. The real question between the two is does Japan build a military capable of offensive action?

 Interesting, thanks for your thoughts.........hats-off-salute-smiley-emoticon.gif

Are you familiar w/ the Thucydides Trap

All major players-Russia, India & USA have alliances of convenience & currently Russia & India share that~as well as Russia & China.....

The USA?? We are more isolated than we have been in a long time....

I would not be counting on India, especially as they move to replace the USA as the second largest economy in the word.........

Anyway, what, if anything should the USA do about CHina, economically & militarily, if anything???
