We definitely need all the workers we can attract. At first I thought that employers who hire undocumented ppl might be happy with this. But then it occurred to me that if they become citizens, they will be protected by OSHA, minimum wage laws, and other worker protections -- which will cost employers more. So will they support an amnesty program? Or would they prefer a situation where we pretend not to see undocumented workers?

Not a lawyer, but my understanding is that if they were here on a work visa, they'd be covered by "OSHA, minimum wage laws, and other worker protections".....which, IMO, is why they aren't. Congress, and their corporate overlords, don't want the system to change.
