Trans rights isn't a "real issue", IMO. Civil rights? Yes. Rights for all Americans to live how they please as long as they don't hurt anybody? Yes.

Pushed a variant of what we're calling DEI

Wanted basic minimum income for all citizens

Wanted speech codes, what the Left now calls "disinformation" criminalized.

Wanted to tax or even confiscate wealth, like the Left today wants to tax unrealized (untaken) income on land, stocks, etc., slap onerous inheritance taxes on people, etc.

Wanted control of what today we call the MSM in a collusion with government. No different than the Left wanting government control of social media today.

Wanted rent control and public ownership of most housing

Wanted "religious freedom" so long as the religion was aligned with the state. That is, like the Left today, certain religions are tolerated because they align with Leftist thinking, and those that don't are shutdown, oppressed, or outlawed.

Wanted to punish large corporations with confiscatory taxes and heavy regulation.

Wanted universal state-run healthcare, retirement system, and other social-economic systems (eg., "economic justice").

Jeff Heer (the writer), starts with this as an analogy:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis can take pride in the fact that he is almost keeping pace with his chief rival in having embarrassing Nazi scandals. Earlier this week, in response to continuing lackluster polling, DeSantis fired 38 staffers. Axios noted that one of those staffers was Nate Hochman, a speechwriter who “secretly created and shared a pro-DeSantis video that featured the candidate at the center of a Sonnenrad, an ancient symbol appropriated by the Nazis and still used by some white supremacists.”
The Left's outrage at something in a momentary shot within a video turns DeSantis into a "Nazi" because of some tenuous connection of the sort conspiracy theorists love.

Then the usual tropes for Trump are re-listed:

...his (Trump) numerous sly uses of alt-right memes, his promotion of extremists like Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka, and his infamous “very fine people” response to the 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va. More recently, Trump dined last year with Adolf Hitler aficionado and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.

The whole article amounts to little more than a regurgitation of disparate claims taken as "proof" that somehow all--or most--Republicans are no different or better than Nazis. It's complete raving lunatic, conspiracy theory level, ranting from the radical Left who are in hysterics because Trump regained office and is taking their (the Left's) carefully crafted government empire of control apart like a three-dollar suit.
