Well- it was an unforgivable crime- but the pharisees were not slaves to the Romans, more like the local bourgeoisie of an occupied territory with an over-inflated opinion of themselves . Samo-samo. Still- overturning money-lenders' tables should hardly have been worthy of capital punishment, should it. Despite the bad rep. though they continued to make dolla- as tight-knit groups do- and I can't think of any instances of general slavery post-pyramids. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll let you and BP argue that point. I think the Babylonians enslaved the Hebrews, and then let them go years later. My point was that the 'Christian' religion was a Slave Religion (probably in response to the Roman Occupation).
The local Religious Guys didn't like 'competition', so had Jesus snuffed out. This is pretty much the Standard Operating Procedure of all religions.
It wasn't 'slavery' it was 'discrimination', 'oppression', 'second-class citizenship'.

Naturally, our Hebrew friends would never do this to anyone else after what they went through.
