Is There Any Chance Hillary Runs in 2012?

This question is just internet chat board conjecture but hypothetically if things don't go well for Obama over the next two years does anyone here see any senario where Hillary leaves the administration to run a primary challenge to Obama? Kennedy obviously did it in 1980 (ran a primary challenge) so it's not unprecendented.

The reason it even crossed my mind is I can't see Hillary losing the desire to be CIC, she has a big backing of supporters after her '08 primary run and if she waits until 2016 she'll be in her late 60's.

If Obama is doing well in 18-24 months this will be a moot point as no one will challenge him in the primary. If he's struggling there's no guarantee someone will give him a primary challenge but if anyone did I would think it would be Hillary.

Thoughts?

Maybe if Obama went down to like 5% poll approval; and this assuming that Hillary didn't follow him down. Otherwise she's almost certainly waiting until 2016 or never running again.

And Ted Kennedy wasn't secretary of state. He was a senator. If Hillary ran against Obama again there's a good chance she wouldn't be re-appointed.

That's why I said she would drop out of the administration to run. Or at least I assume she would. I can't imagine her running against Obama while still being in his administration (if she ever ran of course).

no...if she had remained a senator she might have a chance, but not as his Secstate....she lost her ability to act as an independent leader....

query:

has any secstate run against their boss in a presidential election?

It reasons to me she could say she's leaving the administration because she disagrees with certain policies of his and make those the backbone of her campaign.

Oh man, I don't agree with anything the Hillary stands for, but I think it would be fun as hell if she against "the One"..:cof1:

The ONLY way I can see that happening, is if some unfortunate mishap befell the President... like if he was discovered in Ft. Marcy Park... I'm just sayin...

Jefferson (who was Washington's Secretary of State) ran against Adams twice, and defeated him once. The first time, Adams was in the same previous administration as Vice President, and the second time, Jefferson was the Vice President and Adams was President.

Granted, the example isn't that useful because Adams and Jefferson were actually from different parties and were elected President and Vice President because their vote totals were so close.

I think that is more likely to hurt her than to help any effort at a presidential run. She has a good opportunity to make a global impression as SOS. It would be more advantageous for her to wait if she does intend to run for president in '12. You can't entirely predict the sort of fallout that such a premature attempt might elicit, but it's more apt to harmful than positive.

that would be interesting....but don't they have virtually the same platforms? she is more hawkish and i think would have dealt with afghansistan much more decisively
