I went out with a hard core feminist for quite a while many moons back, she is "married" to my best mate and lives down in Wales these days. I think it was divine providence that she ended up with four sons, two of her own and two she inherited from his previous marriage.

When I was working as a research assistant at the Ohio State University I went to lunch with a grad student I was working with. He had a friend meet us for lunch. She turned out to be a butch lesbian and radical feminist. Well she turned out to be a jerk. My friend was trying to tell her the work he and I were doing on recycled materials and she was being very snarky and rude to him and to me and she didn't even know me. So I finally asked her what her major was and the young lady very defiantly told me she was majoring in Womens Studies. I then, being the smart ass that I am, asker her "Well what will you do with that major? Become a housewife?".

Talk about pissing someone off the the quick. She was ready to fist fight me right then and there. I just laughed at her which pissed her off even more. She was going to hit me over the head with a book by my friend stopped her. To be honest I actually sympathise to a certain degree with feminist politics but she was being a rude jerk.

We've improved, through correct amendments, the constitution to include all the people including those former slaves and changed our laws to reflect a better picture of the meaning of those parts that were not amended. Courts have decided against precedent in favor of equality that we work towards.

However, that doesn't change at all that women too had the right to own and bear arms in the early US... "The People" meant the same thing throughout the constitution, it doesn't change for just this one Amendment and mean something different because of the declarative reason preceding the right.
