This is the Republican Platform and what they stand for.

#1. Denying women their reproductive rights and criminalizing them.
#2. Embracing bigoted nationalism and over extending our national defense. While spending more money like drunken sailors on a all ready bloated military.
#3. Undermining public education, eliminating sex education and replacing it with abstinence only program (a program that has proven not to work).
#4. Eliminating health care reform so you can't cover your college age children, will be denied coverage for a prexisting condition, and will go bankrupt if you become seriously ill or injured.
#5. Will implement racist laws allowing local law enforcement to force you to prove you are a citizen.
#6. Turn medicare into a voucher program which would more than double out of pocket expenses for seniors but will enrich a handful of insurance company executives.
#7. Turn our social security trust fund money over to the tender mercies of Wall Street gamblers.
#8. Will rape our national parks and wilderness areas and undermine EPA so that polluters will be free to dump toxic and hazardous waste into the air you breath, the water you drink and the food you grow and eat.
#9. Will deny many people the right to vote in a naked attempt to reduce voter turn out of demographics who oppose their reactionary policies.

Are you referring to the public education system where we spend more per capita than average, yet consistently get piss poor results in the basics like science, math etc...? Are you referring to the public education system like the one in CA where child abuse is not grounds for dismissal?

No they will not. ID's are required in daily life... if people do not have them, we should work to get them one, not continue to harp on the fact that they don't have an ID. They need it to open bank accounts, write checks, get a job, purchase alcohol, tobacco and on and on and on... why do you want to keep them without an ID?

Speaking of public education I believe bac posted an article recently describing how Obama is hurting public education with his emphasis on charter schools among other things. This wasn't a 'Republicans are better as a result' article it was a 'don't ignore what the Democrats and Obama are doing' article.

We don't need to come up with Jim Crow laws making it more difficult for certain groups (blacks, elderly, students) to get ID? How about the thousands of people born to midwifes? Born at home? Your premise is flawed. I don't have to show an ID at my bank, to write checks (I use a debit card), purchase alcohol, tobacco, and so on...

I'm of with making an ID requirement, if it's a standardized national program used by all states, free, and wouldn't disenfranchise voters waiting to get the ID.

1) Again, enough of the strawman... no one ever said the life of the child is greater than the life of the mother. The right to life is equal. Which is why if the womans life is in danger then she has the right to protect her life over that of the child if she so chooses. She should not have the right to choose convenience over the life of the child.
