The fact is, Israel is an internationally recognized country. As far as I am concerned, their obligation is to ensure equal rights to their own Palestinian Arab citizens in Israel, and genuinely work for a two state solution for Palestinians living outside Israel in the West Bank.

An excellent point about genetically indigenous peoples and current laws and international borders. The antisemitics aren't advising all the Euros to "go home" from the Americas, Australia and Africa. They only want the Jews to leave Israel. Their bias is clear.

Israel is not going anywhere. It is a UN member state that is internationally recognized as a fully sovereign state entity.

Getting into debates about that is pointless and doesn't advance the football.

Israel certainly has an obligation to respect the rights of their own Arab-Israeli citizens, and Israel needs to guarantee a viable two state solution for West Bank Palestinians. That's my two cents

Andrew Lester will face charges of assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. Authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest and he’s not currently in custody, Thompson said.

“I can tell you there was a racial component to this case,” Thompson said at a news conference without elaborating.

When asked whether Lester may also face hate crime charges, the prosecutor said that in Missouri, a hate crime is a lower level of felony, and that adding such charges could constitute double jeopardy. A probable cause document released Monday evening similarly doesn’t shine any light on why authorities believe race played a role in this case.

There is no indication that Lester or Ralph spoke to one another before the Thursday evening shooting, Thompson said. The prosecutor added there is no evidence that the teen entered the home and preliminary evidence shows Lester opened fire on the teen through a glass door with a .32 caliber revolver.

I've read some scholars of the region on both sides refer to each other as cousins.

I think there are people who feel the Palestinians have legitimat long-standing grievances, but aren't themselves anti-Semitic.

I tend to be a realist; the State of Israel is a sovereign UN member state which isn't just going to disappear, so accomodations addressing both Israeli concerns and legitimate Palestinian grievances are the only game in town.

Agreed. Those people aren't the ones wishing to crush Israel or bulldoze the Jewish nation into the sea.

Being a realist is a good thing. While the UN is good in many respects, in regard to Israel, it sometimes resembles the maxim about democracy being two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for dinner.

Ben Franklin never said that, even though some may quote him as saying so. OTOH, Franklin did write, “There is Truth in the Old Saying, That if you make yourself a Sheep, the Wolves will eat you.”
