It's Here

NOAA describes the IPCC thus: Internationally, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), under the auspices of the United Nations (UN), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), is the most senior and authoritative body providing scientific advice to global policy makers. The IPCC states that sea levels have risen on average by about 7 inches since 1900.

Unfortunately, the East Coast sea levels have risen even higher: http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/administration_pdf/slrtffinalrep.pdf

This is NASA, the guys that use computer models to land on Mars, now you are being ridiculous! You just sighted them to Darla as reputable and now you are saying the opposite to me. Pretty good back flip in one thread. Are you related to Romney or is it just a talent of all uber conservatives?

They are reputable when it comes to science Rana. That doesn't mean their computer models are correct.

Again... the actual DATA matters. Has there been an increase? They keep saying their models suggest there should be... but hurricanes, tornadoes... we are not seeing more severe ones here. The NOAA link I posted shows that the sea has been rising for over 100 years. Yet we are now supposed to blame man?

Seriously, SF, climatology, meteorology are sciences, you think this isn't science? Sigh!

If there's anyone who doesn't want to read through SF's 57 page report that he linked to in another diarrhea drop - here is the NOAA conclusion: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cmb-faq/globalwarming.html#q6

"Global mean sea level has been rising at an average rate of 1.7 mm/year (plus or minus 0.5mm) over the past 100 years, which is significantly larger than the rate averaged over the last several thousand years. "

And no they do not include the melting Greenland and Antartica ice which has been melting at a faster rate than predicted by anyone.

The human filth; peddling his ass for big money interests.

Dustbin.

ROFLMAO... way to go ragemonster... you actually read a conclusion based on data. Congrats!

So it has been rising for the past 100 years. Yet global warming started at the end of a cooling period in the 1970's.... hmmmm...

When did the little ice age period end again? Mid 1800's or so? So little Ice Age ends and ice starts melting... NO FUCKING WAY.

Tell me Darla... who are these 'big money interests' I am 'peddling my ass' for? Oh wait, that was just more of your rage induced delusions.

Wow, the same people who are all on about how a cold winter doesn't mean that "global warming" isn't happening are suddenly, "One hurricane means we are causing all the hurricanes!"

Seriously, SF, climatology, meteorology are sciences, you think this isn't science? Sigh!

Meteorology is indeed Science. Tell us... what additional science classes are required to go from Meteorology degree to climatology???

Again... regardless... DATA matters. Why do you continue to ignore that fact? Computer models are used to test assumptions or make projections. The models can be wrong just as they can be right. The DATA is what tells us if a theory/model is correct or not.

SF what have humans been doing for the last 100 years? What are the dates of the industrial revolution?

You are the one who refuses to see the data.

"Our cover story this week may generate controversy, but only among the stupid."

Oh, dear gawd, go read a scholarly paper on it. I know you are trying for a gotcha, but when you make statements like this it shows you don't understand the research and science of climate change due to warming.

Note that SF, called on his NOAA bluff, does not refute one thing in my post and proceeds to "Laugh his ass" into apparently forgetting the entire industrial revolution. IS there anyone here who doesn't see what a fake, phony , and fraud the ass peddler is?

Note too how he doesn't want to touch the accelerated melting of the ice caps...

The buffoon should go clean his clown shoes, they have mud on them. From crawling in it.

Well said, and yep, I don't just talk to sound like I think I know what I'm saying like SF does. I am always around republican business people and this shit is taken very seriously even by them. Maybe especially by them. SF is a freaking asshat clown who would be laughed out of any room I've been in recently. Personally I do not believe for one second he would ever expose his backwards buffoonish views to his clients - if they are educated business people, they would no longer trust such a clown with their money. It's that simple.

Dustbin.

The IPCC estimate of impacts for global climate change/warming are very conservative. Everything is going to happen much faster and more severely as has been seen. I think the fools among us have delayed any corrective measures enough that it's now certain that we will have to live with this to some degree. That doesn't mean we shouldn't get serious about changing our ways and redirecting our energies and money to everything that will improve the world for all living things.

The internet has changed everything, EVERYTHING! Information and having access to it makes it harder to lie with impunity. Romney and the rethugs act like they don't know that but they're relying on Fox 'news' and the RW control of media to push their propaganda for them. Some people live in that bubble but most don't. We need to laugh the deniers and anti-science dweebs our of office.

The ocean is warming off the east coast which means it has more volume...This information has been available for years, and has been ignored at our peril. It's like some people have a death wish...oh yeah that would be the dooms day evangelicals.

You mean like the 194 pages I just posted that Darla tried to condense down to a couple of sentences from the conclusion?

Take your own advice and actually read the papers on the topic.

Agreed on all counts. I'm very encouraged by that Business Week cover. These people can't hide their mess anymore. Their noses are going to be getting shoved in it for a very long time.

I have, I do, I live it here in Alaska. I subscribe to websites on the issue. I see what is happening to the Alaska fishing industry, devasted this year. I read where as China continues to modernize the rate has and will excellerate. Alaskans are a red state, but they not deny what is happening.

I am encouraged, too. The Alaska Dispatch has had numerous articles on the way it is impacting Alaska after the devastating fish return, the flooding and the wind storms we have endured just the last two years.

so your plan is to cede the most productive parts of this country to the sea so you can keep poluting the planet?

Of course that's his plan.

The situation wont get dire for another two or three generations, so his ass is covered, and his ass is all that really matters to him.

It's the Tightie Rightie mantra:

"I got mine so F*ck the rest of YOU!"

Thousands and thousands of hurricanes over thousands of years and suddenly this one is caused by 'global climate change'...(ie, warming)

What pinheaded logic.
