It's Really Bad Now.

We should pause for a moment to remember that being a Fascist or a Communist is not illegal in America.
The framers were not so vain and consumed by hubris to construct an absolute constitution.

They formed a constitution where the government of the United States can be legally and peacefully overthrown....by free elections and legally executed constitutional amendments.

Now we have what was once the "Party of Lincoln" actually doing what Fascists and Communists never achieved in America. They are in the process of overthrowing the government by way of compromised elections and by totally ignoring the constitution.

The Republican Party of 2020 is, by any reasonable and learned standard, a criminal enterprise.
While there are theoretically no illegal political parties in America, treason is in fact illegal, and from here forward, being a Republican is treasonous in nature.
They are not about free and honest elections, and they're not about following the guidelines of the constitution.

Their leaders are about serving the crooked oligarchs.
Their low information followers are willing to stand against their own economic and social best interests,

this in order to back leaders who will encourage their racism, xenophobia, anti-intellectualism, religious zealotry, homophobia, misogyny, and freedom from social responsibility.

We've crossed the threshold. It was not always the case, I'm sure, but today, there is no such thing as an honorable Republican. They're all treasonous criminals.

Elections are not a "overthrow" of the government and never were. Thinking like this is the height of stupidity.

You're a fucking retard NubLicker, Trump is the OPPOSITE of a fascist. The Democrat Party are the fascists.

You attempting to contradict me is the height of stupidity.

Overthrow is merely used as a colloquial expression meaning to fundamentally change.
Anybody of even minimal intellect would have realized that.....JPP staff member.

It's amusing, countryfuck, that you would reply to my post pretending to understand a single thing that I said.
You're functional illiteracy is exposed by your every attempt at discourse.

Lol, what's to understand? You're a fucking moron, and a liar. You couldn't hold a candle to my vocabulary, so, please.

You are correct. So correct, in fact, that I have can testify that I've seen dozens -- maybe hundreds -- of comments from Reichwingers both on JPP and elsewhere about 2016. In them, they referred to "throwing that bum [Obama] out," "getting those socialists out of the government," "changing the whole thing for the better," "draining the swamp" and other phrases meaning exactly what you said -- a peaceful overthrow of the then-current government for a new regime.

Sadly for our country, the new regime is hell-bent on perverting free and open elections, up to and including enlisting foreign assistance in keeping the current IMPOTUS in power.

Making elections work for them instead of a real vote is the best way to control the government. He who counts the votes, or determines who will be allowed to vote, wins.

A great many people vote for candidates because they promise fundamental change--Obama, Bernie, Trump, and a long history of candidates before those. Such change seldom occurs. I'm not a Trump supporter, but suggesting there is anything fascist or treasonous occurring is just hyperbole.

Checks and balances have continued to keep the government in check as evidenced by the impeachment.

It's not a colloquialism, it's an entirely separate word and concept. The two are diametrically opposed.

Elections are first and foremost for the benefit and stability of the State. All else is secondary to this.

Well said. I think that's a reason so many Governors become President. They run as "outsiders". Bush Sr. was a definite inside the beltway type. Obama was a Senator but he was so new he wasn't tainted by D.C. yet. Trump obviously had no previous government experience. But running as an outsider and actually changing the massive bureaucracy known as the federal government are two very different things.
