Man charged with hate crime after fatal shootings of strangers at library, gas station, police say

TULSA, Okla. (Gray News) – A man is facing numerous charges after he shot and killed two strangers inside a library and a convenience store in an attack that appears to have been racially motivated, police said.

Police said after the library shooting, Gilford ran to a nearby QuikTrip. Inside the convenience store, Gilford shot another man in the back of the head. When that victim fell to the ground, Gilford shot him a second time, police said.

The white shooter drove from Clay County to a predominantly African-American neighborhood of Jacksonville, where he opened fire at a Dollar General. He fatally shot two men and one woman before killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The gunman was armed with a Glock and an AR-15, which was painted with a swastika, police said. He also left "several manifestos" said to describe his ideology of hate, the New York Times reports.

Palmeter first went to the university campus, where he was asked to identify himself by a security officer, the university said in a statement. When he refused, he was asked to leave.

"The individual returned to their car and left campus without incident," the statement added.

Sheriff Waters said the gunman was then seen putting on a bullet-resistant vest and a mask before leaving the campus.

Actually that isn't really true. Frequently if a black person murders a white person the news articles fail to mention race. When a white person murders a black person the race is frequently in the headline or first paragraph.

Sheriff Waters stated at today's news conference that if someone sees another person putting on body armor and a mask, to please call 911.

Good idea. What has Governor DeSantis said about this? "Sieg Heil! They deserved it"? "They were all Disney fans"?
