Jade's Summer Vacation.

Jade Dragon

And I'm the one that jaded you.
Well it's getting closer. All our hotels are booked, and plans are close to finalized. I will post pictures here when the time comes, but before then I might share a few things, like special purchases for the trip, or advice on getting things set up, and booked. I have no bans, because this is just to share.

I'll start by sharing this purchase for the trip. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQT2ZGE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A little advice when booking Banff, or Jasper Parks in Canada. Do it several months before, or use outlying areas. We had to use outlying areas, because 2 1/2 - to 3 months was too close. They book up fast. I ended up booking in Radium Hot Springs, for Banff, and Hinton, for Jasper. A lot cheaper options, but you have to drive a good bit more.

Well unfortunately camping isn’t something my girly girl wife is into. Roughing it to see nature’s wonders isn’t her cup of tea.

Good advice, thanks. Banff is one of the places on our list of Places To Go. Some of the really popular American national parks, like Yellowstone, book over a year ahead.

There's better places than Yellowstone, IMO unless you like to see boiling water coming from the ground.

Canadian Rockies = incredible. The story of how they built the Canadian Pacific Railway over the Rockies is one for the ages.

My first vacation of the season is coming up this week. Disneyland, for my SO's birthday.

PG-13 warning:
Getting the back seat on the Pirates of the Carribbean to make out in the dark, is the only way to fly.

Quebec Province sometime in July. Laissez le bon temps rouler!
Byelorussia in the Fall.

Re: Mott -- I do not know what happened to me. I used to love camping and backpacking. I have gotten totally wimpy. I cannot stand to go two days without a hot shower now. I feel like I should punch myself in the mouth, for being a wuss.

I now never book hotels unless they come as a component of a travel package already included in the price. The reason being is that every other time I have done it, I show up and low and behold they have some excuse to why they don't have me a room that is somehow my fault like "We didn't think you were coming so we went ahead and gave the room to someone else." Like I called them, made a deposit, told them what time I would be arriving, and showed up before my arrival time and I somehow gave them the impression I wasn't coming.

Yellowstone is an amazing example of geology and our planet's life activity. Went there when I was a teenager. Yep, it's overrun with tourists in the summer, but spring and fall are excellent times to visit. It sits atop a super volcano with a caldera 45 x 35 miles wide, whose last eruption was 630,000 years ago. Cool stuff! Geology aside, it is also one of our oldest national parks, and features a wonderful array of animals, plants, birds, and other lifeforms.

What parks would you recommend?

Wow, damn. Have never had that happen. You booked with a credit card, right?

I do not see it as boiling water. The natural cycles of the living Earth are magic to me.

The thing I give Yellowstone high marks for is the wildlife. One of the only places in the conterminous United States I know off where you can see bison, elk, and moose up close and in large quantities. That was worth the price of admission to me.

So sorry that's happened to you.

Me too. Always NYC or DC. Someone who worked at a hotel told me that some places were just booking me at a lower rate to get the reservation and then if someone came in last minute they could get more out of, they dumped the reservation because there isn't anything you can really do about it.
