Jim Carrey... jealous much?

You' apparently haven't seen his "In Living Color" days?

I have seen sufficient of him. I have no intention of wasting any more of my time. If he is at all funny or talented, why is the rest of his extremely limited repetoire such crap. He is the archetypal one trick pony.

He was good in The Truman Show

...in The Majestic

...in Bruce Almighty

...in Horton Hears a Who

...in A Christmas Carol

and I predict he's going to ROCK as Col. Stars & Stripes in Kick Ass 2 coming out soon!

But us "live and let live" types understand the haters gotta hate...it's all they've got.

I love The Truman Show. I like to joke that it was Carrey's warning to the world about the evils of Wrealty TV before it got really big.

That said, he'll never be remembered as a great actor it anything...

He's slap stick dude....he's not high comedy. He's Benny Hill....he's not Graham Chapman.

If Carrey were an expert at something, or was even known for his intellect, I might take his words more seriously.

But he isn't so I don't. This was, I believe, a PR move on his part.

Yeah reminds me of Palin but Carey is funneh.
And yet carey is an expert at the same thing as Charleton Heston, acting...

The highest comedy in US history were the Marx Bros., so let's not go badmouthing slapstick too much!
I'm not bad mouthing slap stick at all.....just pointing out the difference. I love slap stick! In fact I have a photo of the Three Stooges hanging on my office wall. :)

I own all 13 of the Marx Bros. movies made from 1929-1949, and can recite them in order and correctly date them (same with 007 movies, actually). Additionally, I have seen some more of Groucho's appearances on film. I am actually borrowing Skadoo from from my uncle and plan to watch it soon. I saw a Groucho enthusiast perform several years ago live, and got a copy of a different appearance of his in NY.

I would recommend anyone here at least watching A Night in Casablanca, which was my introduction to them.

I know that, ex-pat, it was part of the funny; now stop ruining jokes with your inane robotic inanities and try to catch up with the rest of us... Maybe you can really go for stick in the mud and correct the guy who got the joke and used "to"...

Truly you are one of the most stick in the butt ex-pat Brits that I have ever had the "luck" to meet.

I have a lot (not sure how many) of their radio shows. Brilliant wit now confined withing a tape cassette with no way of releasing them. THAT was comedy talent and there is precious little of that calibre around today.

If you intended to use 'too' and not 'either' as part of a joke, then I apologise. I should also congratulate you for the first sign of humour to spill from your keyboard since I have 'known' (not biblically of course) you.
If it was humour it had no concordance. Better would have been 'eithre' or similar...but who am I to advise?

He differs from Benny Hill and others of that genre in that they endeavoured to entertain their audiences. Carrey tries to entertain himself and it is quite clear that he is trying just a little too hard.

Eithre would have been more noticeable, but too obvious IMO. I try to be more subtle. Subtle is difficult on the interwebs sometimes. Usually my friends get the subtle through my facial expressions...

Bullshit... he is nowhere near the level of Benny Hill. Jim Carrey makes weird faces and loud noises and thinks that is enough to be funny. As was stated, he is a one trick pony. No skill.

The reason why the Marx Bros. and their contemporaries triumphed is because they came out of Vaudeville. They had to therefore be fast, funny, and clean. Most comedians can't do that.

Jesus fucking christ, can't someone even disagree with you about whether or not a comedian is funny??? Everything with you is BULLShit, AS STATED, THiS iS FACT. Did you ever hear of people having different tastes, likes, and dislikes? You must be a load of fun to go to a movie with. I used to date someone who if he didn't like the movie, would want to leave and would torture me till I would. I got rid of him. You know what he is today? Some other woman's problem.
