He was running a spelling bee, the card he had on it had an "e" on the end, he actually leaned over and asked the teacher to verify the spelling (because he didn't think there was an "e", nor had the kid spelled the word with the "e"). The teacher told him that it was right....

You may want to loosen up a bit and have a bit of fun. It is a funny structure. I would have said "well" rather than "intimately", thus avoiding the double entendre. It would have been less funny, and wouldn't have wound up on Reddit.
