Jomtien Beach

No need to apologize...we're just chatting, after all;) (You know why I post...If and when I stop talking to you, you'll know I've added you to the very short, very permanent, naughty list=there's no forgiveness there;)

:) Well, I don't want to get on your 'Naughty List'.

Jack, there's a bar here called Lewinskis run by Greg Earp, a descendant of Wyatt. I thought you'd appreciate a fine pair!

Lewinskis. Yes. I knew you would find a Bar like that. (... and you claim you are married)
Anyway, what clothing is that the girl in the Portrait is wearing? Panung? Sampot? Chut? I still have mine from years ago. Very simplistic. Men tie it at the waist in a knot. Women tie it at the chest with a knot. Perfect. All you need.

"The reason is entirely cultural. Thai people consider the head to be sacred, and feet, because they are the lowest part of the body, to be filthy. You should never touch a Thai person’s head unless you have been invited to do so - especially with your feet."

My missus was with me you dumb cluck. It's a sports bar, restaurant and guest house ffs, run by an American who's lived in Thailand for nearly three decades. By the way, the girl in the picture is the eponymous heroine Ms. Lewinski herself.

I know why. I bet you wonder why it never happened to you though...

'Sniff Kiss'.
"In Thailand, where culture still plays an important part in people's lives, kissing in public is not accepted. Yet, there is a form of kissing you can see in the open. That's a sniff kiss or hawm, in Thai. This word also means "good smell." "

:) You made me look it up. hahaha ... thanks, I never could get an answer from Havana.

OK. Panung? Sampot? Chut? What's the local dress worn by either sex? I have mine, it's yellow with like brownish paisley designs. Has a little sanskrit writing on it.

Never seen anybody wear those in many years, maybe a few isolated hill tribes on the Lao border?

This is not a porn site.

You can be very puritan at times, you also have an odd notion of what constitutes porn. That painting has pride of place in the bar. It's funny how you're more interested by that than the fact the bar owner Greg Earp is a direct descendant of Wyatt Earp.

Hmmm. Really? It was like a bolt of cloth, 3 or 4 feet wide and 3 or 4 feet long, sewed together. I can't remember the name. I either never knew or have forgotten. (I'm becoming frustrated now by not knowing what it was called) :(

Yeh some women wear silk sarongs, my missus has several as a matter of fact. They usually wear them to the temple or somewhere formal. They are called pahsin (ผ้าซิ่น) in Thai.

NOT Formal. For the 'common people'. So simple, so basic, so utilitarian. When you make a knot to tie it, you just gather the extra material at the waist and tie it upon itself.
(Did you ask your wife about 'Sniff Kissing'? I can't wait to hear what she has to say.)
