I do not understand this almost hate towards Bill Cosby from white people for speaking out in the black community.

I don't hate, or even dislike him for speaking out to the black community. I don't like some of the morally-unacceptable things he did in his own life so for me that colors his moral pronouncements to others.

Haha. To my understanding he's speaking to the community about parents, specifically fathers, being parents to their children. If he had some illegitimate child of his own that he hasn't cared for I would get the calls of hypocrisy or quit trying to claim some moral high ground. That's not to justify cheating on his wife or harassment of other women but to my knowledge he's been a good father to his five children.

Christie has this high standard of a person needing to be above reproach, in everything they do, otherwise they have no claim to speak of the failings of others; unless they vote D and then it doesn't matter what they do, everyone needs to listen to them, and follow their instructions.

There was the daughter he claimed was not his, but paid for her support. He did call her upon occasion, but if he was her father he was absent from her life according to his own standards. He has been criticized for this do as I say, not as I do.

I think it was his delivery. It was the way he phrased it.

Michael Eric Dyson addresses this subject in a very thoughtful way.

He talks of how ground breaking Cosby's "Fat Albert" cartoon was and his comedy skits, too and how it introduced us to the language of the ghetto and how hypocritical it is now for Cosby to condemn said language.

I only became aware of it recently from my twitter feed. When the Woody Allen thing hit the news again, some of the feminist writers I follow started linking to these reports. I was really shocked. It's very interesting because I have seen a lot of black feminists complaining that Chris Brown was so piled on while white abusers like Sean Penn get a pass. Looks like it's more complicated than race.

As far as the racial stuff goes, that goes back to W.E.B. Dubois and Booker T Washington. I hate when white cons get involved in that. They aren't talking to you! You don't know wtf they're talking about, and you always dumb it down. The one thing that makes me shut down from listening to someone immediately is when they say "even Bill Cosby says..." dude stfu.
