And they see the pieces coming together for a solid recovery. I think you should give them as much wiggle room as you give yourself. Say... Oh, 8 years or so.

I haven't. This is exactly what I have been saying for the past 8 years, the only difference is in how you see what I state.

If you predict a coming downturn for any number of years, sometime you will be right. It is not an amazing thing to see a downturn coming, it is predicting it in a small window and being right that might be amazing, but even then the evidence was before us and it was still mundane.

During the past 8 years I agreed with you and with LadyT that the housing issue was going to blow up. I did not suggest that a downturn was around the corner until less than 6 months before the downturn, not because I am "amazing" or wanted to crow about being "right" it was because I saw it right around the corner.

It wasn't that I thought you were WRONG, it was that I thought it was very mundane to predict a downturn, we all know one is coming. We can start right now to predict the next one, we'd be "right".

LOL. No, it explains the difficulty I have in keeping the FAT part of the fat and happy. I mean, forcing me to WALK?!!
 
Ohh just the housing bubble part.

My view went beyond that. And still does.
Some have begun to catch on in the last 6-9 months.
this is more of a perfect storm kind of thing.
Lots of contributing factors coming together.

Oil prices.
National debt
Dropping dollar
Banks pretty much insolvent once it is all said and done.
Personal debt.
stagnant wages.
moving to a consumer based economy.
The inevitable effects of a global based economy.
And a few more things.

So you just basically missed the point of the post. It wasn't at all about "just the housing", it was about "predicting".

As I said, we can start predicting the recovery and another downturn, we can even predict a recovery after that and a downturn after that one, and we would not be amazing, but we'd be right. It's like predicting that someday there will be rain and then 6 months later when it rains rejoicing in your amazing psychic ability. None of the prediction would be amazing.

yep 325 million and it might be a good idea for our grandchildren to learn to speak Chinese for job opportunities in the future.
