There's a guy I used to brawl with (against) that is now permanently brain damaged because he tried to bully a kid and that kid beat him with a skateboard. Caved in his thick-ass head.

He kept pushing his luck, and it ran out.

Also, I hit a drunken Marine asshole that was bullying me with a skateboard in the head when I was 15, and he went down like a ton of bricks and hit his head on the curb. I ran home as fast as I could..actually towed my friend home through a trail on a bike as fast as I could and went and hid. He held the skateboard.

The asshole Marine didn't die, so there's that. A skateboard can be a deadly weapon. That one was a Lance Mountain Powell-Peralta skateboard. With Ratbone 97A wheels and Independent trucks. Those wheels are hard, very hard.

The defense called him to testify. His defense attorney (Mark Richards) said in his opening statement that their client intended to give testimony in his own defense. On November 2, he told the jury they would hear testimony, "from Kyle Rittenhouse".

Defense attorneys typically encourage their clients to testify in self-defense cases.

To win an acquittal on self-defense grounds, defendants must show that they reasonably believed their lives were in danger and that they used the appropriate amount of force.

Kenosha-based defense attorney Michael Cicchini, who is not involved in Rittenhouse's case, said he always puts clients who argue self-defense on the stand to explain their mindset.

"That's your primary and best source for what the defendant was seeing, thinking and feeling at the time," Cicchini said. "The testimony is from the standpoint of the defendant at that time and place and within those circumstances. I've never had a self-defense case where a defendant hasn't testified."
