FBI Director Kash Patel has been handing out custom‑branded bourbon bottles — complete with his name, signature facsimile, and the FBI shield — at public events, even as he is suing The Atlantic for reporting on his alleged drinking habits.

According to the reporting:

  • The bourbon bottles are produced by Woodford Reserve and labeled “Kash Patel, FBI Director.”
  • The Atlantic obtained one from a seller who said Patel gifted it in Las Vegas.
  • The FBI did not deny Patel gives out these bottles, saying personalized gifts are commonplace and have been used by the Bureau for years.
  • Former FBI agents confirmed that branded whiskey bottles and similar items have long been used as commemorative gifts.
  • Patel has reportedly given these bottles to staff and civilians on official trips, including one left behind in Milan after he was filmed chugging beer with the U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team.
  • A bottle also went missing during a Quantico training seminar, allegedly causing Patel to “lose his mind,” according to a retired agent involved in complaints against the Bureau.
  • Patel’s office says he follows ethics rules and pays for any personal gifts himself.
Meanwhile, Patel is pursuing a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic, which reported that colleagues were concerned about his drinking and periods of going off‑grid. Patel denies the claims, calling the reporting “fake news” and saying attacks on him are attacks on the FBI.
