Key GOP impeachment witness charged with lying

So this Smirnov guy was feeding disinformation from Russian spies straight to Republicans on the impeachment inquiry.

I've been reading about this on today's CNN story about it. Seems he blew it when he told the authorities that Hunter Biden was "recorded" making phone calls from a hotel in Kyiv. He has never been to Ukraine. Now he's saying that he got his information from Russian agents, predating the 2020 election even, trying to spread dirt on Biden.

The saddest thing? We have Americans, including traitors like pEarl and Gardner, who claim to have once served in our military, who believed a Russian disinformation agent over their own POTUS. So much for patriotism, eh?

Absolutely. From the CNN link I just posted:

And, prosecutors wrote, Smirnov claims to have met with Russian intelligence officials as recently as November and December 2023.

“What this shows is that the misinformation he is spreading is not confined to 2020,” they wrote. “He is actively peddling new lies that could impact U.S. elections after meeting with Russian intelligence officials in November. In light of that fact there is a serious risk he will flee in order to avoid accountability for his actions.”

I would think the congressional subpoenas for Hunter Biden are totally unenforceable now because Republicans got their information from the Kremlin.
 
None of it makes any difference, they will proceed, they have to, MaraLago demands it, and it was never about actually impeaching Biden, if that happen, good, but their primary purpose was always to generate enough innuendo for their media to echo as fact to portray Biden as a criminal
