Trump hates journalists, so don't expect him to do anything except laugh out loud, hopefully in private, but, being Trump, we can probably expect at least a congratulatory tweet if anyone brings this to his attention.

Odd this hasn't generated more controversy. Isn't Saudi Arabia one of our best buds?
indeed. I sure as hell am not just buying into what Turkey says happened either.
Trump is playing it right. calling it potentially horrendous, but not enough to dismantle the special relationship.we'll see

These are Putin and Kim Jong-Un tactics, reaching out and killing 'traitors' in foreign countries.
Interesting how Trump is mentioning how much shit Saudi Arabia is buying from us.

What "special relationship" does Saudi Arabia have with the US? They definitely have one with Trump, as does Russia, and China. Where is the one with the US?

For Trump it's always about the deal -how much money.
But he also mentioned there are plenty of other sellers out there -
Russia in particular who'd love more military influence KSA. That also separates KSA away from military cordination

For Buddha's sake Obama just did the same thing to Eqypt with his sanctions on the Sisi coup;
where he suspended arms sales that Russia quickly filled and now has influence w/ KSA.

There should be some international investigation, since many nations are outraged
and then make a measured response.. KSA is too important to goof around with

FDR and Saudi Arabia: Forging a Special Relationship
https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1057/9781137025258_6
The origins of the “special relationship” between the United States and Saudi Arabia are rooted in the politics of World War II, driven by America’s growing demands for oil. Roosevelt understood that the war offered an opportunity for the emergence of new political relationships in the Middle East designed to challenge European influence and foster the new economic and political order he envisioned. He admitted to being “greatly interested” in developments in Saudi Arabia and he aimed to build a strategic partnership, a kind of Good Neighbor Policy for the Middle East, with the Saudi king as one of its cornerstones. The Americans saw him as the most important figure in the Middle East, not only due to his kingdom’s oil wealth and its importance to postwar plans, but also because of Ibn Saud’s political and religious standing with the Arabs throughout the region.

The U.S.-Saudi Arabia alliance, which survived the oil embargo in 1973 and the attacks on September 11, 2001, in which fifteen of the nineteen passenger jet hijackers were Saudi citizens, has passed through some recent strains.
A new generation of Saudi leaders, adjusting to what it had seen as a resurgent Iran and a retreating United States, chafed at President Barack Obama while pursuing an aggressive military posture in the region.

The Obama administration, for its part, charged that Saudi Arabia had exacerbated regional conflicts and undermined U.S. interests while under the protection of the U.S. security umbrella.

President Donald J. Trump, by contrast, has made Saudi Arabia the first foreign country he will visit since taking office and has pledged to take an aggressive posture toward Iranian expansionism.

The United States, first through its oil industry and then via government contacts, established a relationship with Saudi Arabia's founder, King Abdulaziz, and his successors that evolved into a close alliance despite a stark clash in values. U.S. businesses have been involved in Saudi Arabia's oil industry since 1933, when Standard Oil of California (now Chevron) won a concession to explore in eastern Saudi Arabia, discovering oil in 1938.
U.S. companies were preferred to European drillers operating in Iraq and Iran because Saudi Arabia's founder was wary of colonial powers that controlled much of the region at the time.

noise: "KSA is too important to goof around with"
Jack: Can you say 'oil' ?

Funny, aren't you the guy that was channeling Trump and Nord Stream 2?

Princess kudzu, Saudi propaganda agent? Yes, it would certainly be nice to hear her put the 'Saudi spin' on this.

I've chatted on these forums for 16 years, and never encountered anyone who was labeled a foreign agent. Then anatta/noise came along, and I've enjoyed calling him a Russian mouthpiece. Now we have kudzu, who is accused of being a KSA mouthpiece. Such strange times that we are posting in!!

It's not just oil. Or arms sales.
It's a close partnership on anti-terrorism- meaning intelligence sharing.

It's a strategic military partnership ( we provide logistics for KSA in Yemen) .
We and KSA are the counter to Russia and Iran - geopolitical alliances there of the Sunni/Shi'a divide

I'm sure I'm leaving out other factors. Whole aspects of foreign policy depend on the special relationship

I don't know anatta/noise that well, but I have noticed kudzu DELIBERATELY posting incorrect, confusing, completely wrong information about Saudi Arabia. She consistently did it, playing on the ignorance of others about the region. She REPEATEDLY posted things that enhanced the image of Saudi Arabia. She was subtle, somewhat discreet, in how she would say just the most mundane of things to put the Saudis in a good light. After about 10 of these 'misinformation' postings, my only conclusion is that she is a 'Royal' member of the Salman Clan or a paid agent of the Kingdom.

Let's see ... Al Qaeda and ISIS are Arab Sunni Religious Fanatics.

1. Iran is Persian and Shiite.
2. Saudi Arabia is Arab, Sunni, and their Constitution is the Koran.

I wonder which of those two countries would be behind the funding of Al Qaeda and ISIS? (Hmmmm ... this is a tough one to figure out)
