King Krugman

we are struggling to stay out of a deep recession that borders on a depression

there are still too many unemployed, and the gop still offers the failed cut taxes for the wealthy solution

The GOP isn't in power, fool........shouldn't the Democrats be expected to do something while they control the Senate and White House.....every Cabinet, DOD, ODJ, Sec. of State, mainstream media and most powerful propaganda machine since Goebbels... etc.....

Krugman is still a few steps behind me in understanding US economics.

Krugman understands economics better than 99% of the people out there. It is his understanding of economics that allows him to blend in his political views and twist ever so slightly to get the outcome he wants. It is the insertion of politics into economics that annoys me (understatement... perhaps).

He puts forth a warped view of Keynes and the average person has no idea, because what he says 'sounds good' to them.

He's got a one-track mind on the economy - it's all about stimulus for him. I disagree w/ him on the deficit. At some point, China will simply say it's too much, and then we're in a pickle.

Krugman knows more about economic theory than I would know in 3 lifetimes, but I know history, and what America needs is another boom. Not a temporary, shovel-ready jobs boom - a boom in a new industry, with new technology. Domestic energy, biotechnology, medicine; it's out there. The gov'ts best role at this point is to help the growth of those industries, imo.

They help ?.....they demand Corporations pay more in taxes, they refuse to permit the new pipeline, they refuse to allow new oil drilling, they portray big oil, banks, Wall Street, the investors and anyone perceived as rich as the enemy of the middle class....promote class warfare and racial division, etc......

Now let the excuses roll and the spinners spin.....the bottom line will from them will always be , Its Bush's fault anyway....

He did not see this coming and understated the impact as did most of the experts. I called it correctly and continue to do so.

lol... what is going to happen next?

Pretty much more of the same for at least 4 years.
And a continued gradual downslide if we do not change our path.

The US economic model is not sustainable in it's current form and I am not just talking about the debt and govt spending.
The "market" is not the answer.

could you vague that up a bit more... :)

They help ?.....they demand Corporations pay more in taxes,

Corp taxes are up?

they refuse to permit the new pipeline,
'They' refuse to be bullied into rubber stamping a pipeline that will do nothing for this economy. 1 billion in subsidies, for foreign countries to sell the refined sludge on the international market. Untaxable profits. Please save the 20,000 job meme. That's long since been debunked.

they refuse to allow new oil drilling

You do realize that domestic oil production is the highest it's been in years?

,
they portray big oil, banks, Wall Street, the investors and anyone perceived as rich as the enemy of the middle class.
.

Wall St, more than big oil. Although, I'm sure you're as angry as we are that Big Oil is subsidized with your tax dollars?

Please....defend the banks for us. I'm curious

..promote class warfare and racial division, etc......

The Bush era tax cuts served nicely to create a class divide. By all accts, the Right wants to double down on them. Wall St needs to be reined in, specifically w/respect to a raise in cap. gains taxation.

Higher margins, lower position limits. That's a good start.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Left that circulated 'Barack The Magic Negro'. Tell me again about racial division?

, Its Bush's fault anyway....

Ahhh.....I knew you weren't totally delusional.

I have been more specific since before this started than the "experts" have been.

I see the larger picture and do not get blinded by details.

One thing more specific is we need to have a balanced program of some degree of austerity.
This country cannot long exist based on excessive consumerism.

One solid move would be to have a pure flat personal income tax on ALL personal income except SS income, etc. With NO deductions.

We need to adjust upwards the age of SS qualification.

We need to have a single payor medical care system ie Medicare for everyone or some variant.

We need to work for energy independence.

We need to reward companyies that create jobs here and punish those who move offshore. And we can do that since we are one of the largest markets for consumer products.

We need to upscale our technical education programs. We need techs and engineers and such not more MBA's.

We need to ban paid lobbyists. Lobbyists could only be reimbursed for expenses.

Money is not speech. A dollar cannot speak, it can however unfairly amplify speech. everyones voice should be the same.

Any corporation that is too big to let fail is too big to let exist because it is a threat to my country.

Several other things but those are a start.
