Las Vegas is a ghost town where the strippers put up signs 'Sorry, we're clothed'

Grand Canyon is not far away. You can walk to the bottom and stay at Phantom Ranch. (it's only a mile down, that's if you jump, 10 miles if you walk)

:) Elevation - 8,500 feet.

When you get tired of Gambling ... visit Government-built (Socialist) Hoover Dam. (No, it wasn't for the electricity, it was for irrigating the arid Southwest)

I've seen documentaries about it, the guy in charge was a real psychopath. Over 100 men died, many from diesel fumes inside the diversion tunnels.

Every large Construction Project has a 'cost estimate' of people getting killed. Everybody knows what they are signing up for.

I thought the point of your thread about Las Vegas was 'what to do'?
My point is, you could go there for the architecture alone, and I'm not talking about the Gaudy Las Vegas Strip.
You can just drive around and be amazed.
For a City built on Gambling, someone (or Many) have put 'Art' above any other City I've been to.

"Las Vegas May Be The Hottest Art City in America Now"

"Over the years, Las Vegas has prided itself on giving visitors an anything-goes escape they can’t find anywhere else on the planet. And while the city still delivers on that promise, it seems Vegas is cornering the market on something totally new: Inspiration.

This development stems directly from a burgeoning art scene that has taken over the city. On the Strip, in pockets favored by locals, and downtown, private and public art is popping up everywhere. Poetically, the trend comes at a time when locals and visitors alike across the country seem to be embracing this culture crescendo, seeking art whenever they’re out and about.

“Art in this town is alive, vibrant, and–like Vegas itself–growing like crazy,” says Vegas artist Abbie Paulhus. “As the art scene here grows, there are more opportunities for people to make, sell, and appreciate it.”

"A public art tour of Las Vegas"

"Greater Las Vegas grew thanks to highways, and those desert roads have shaped its public art aesthetic. Many artworks seem designed to be viewed from a moving car, and in fact the signage and neon along U.S. Route 91 (also known as Las Vegas Boulevard) and Fremont Street (Boulder Highway outside the city limits) are a cornerstone of the city’s outdoor visuals. This map is a Las Vegas public art loop that introduces a variety of works and styles, methods and messages, that will tempt you to have a closer look, or take a selfie. That is what public art shares with the roadside experience: a commitment to drawing drivers and passengers out of cars."

"Best art city in America? It might be Las Vegas"
https://www.10best.com/interests/galleries-venues/las-vegas-best-art-city-in-america/

"Las Vegas is full of surprises, and one of the biggest is the fact that the city is home to a thriving art scene.

Wherever you look now, from the nooks and crannies of luxury hotels on the Strip to the sides of buildings downtown, you can find pieces of art that will stop you in your tracks and make you laugh, think or just admire.

"Today, more than ever, visitors want to feel like they’re part of the art while also sharing their experience with others," said Tarissa Tiberti, who, as Executive Director of MGM Resorts Art & Culture, oversees more than 800 pieces in the MGM Resorts Fine Art Collection. "Over the years, we’ve found multiple opportunities to showcase immersive, interactive exhibits throughout our resorts, and this is a trend we plan to continue."

Although there are some art tours being offered, much of the joy comes from exploring and finding these works on your own."

When will rational folks finally say “enough of this nonsense “? The doomsdayers want this this go on * forever *. I myself recently received a positive antibody test yet the freaks claim I’m still vulnerable due to different strands. In effect they dont even believe a vaccine will work. They want masks and restaurant closures permanently.

My symptoms that prompted me to get the test (out of curiosity)? Last December 30 I woke up in the middle of the night puking. That was it. I usually get the flu once a yr. and believe me I’d rather have covid19.
No you wouldn’t. I have two people I know who have been hospitalized for Covid-19. Both ended up in ICU on respirators. One was hospitalized three times and the second time she spent over a week in ICU on a respirator and she obviously came close to dying. She took two months to fully recover. Both were young females in their thirties.

I also saw the wave of Covid-19 that went through the State Prison in Marion where around 500 prisoners were hospitalized locally and it completely overwhelmed local hospitals.

Which is preferred:
1. Not dying.
2. Getting the Hospital Bill.
