Well, Progressive came about because Liberal became a slur. That's just how the Left rolls. They grab onto something, fuck it totally up, then move on. Here, they were calling themselves "liberals" and that became a pejorative. So, they moved to "progressive" to get away from being labeled something negative (liberal).
