And there's the rub. #TRE45ON and his merry band of cultists want to be able to call people ni@@ers and pedophiles without consequence. They want to declare that a deadly pandemic, climate change, and Russia-is-not-our-friend to be hoaxes without rebuttal.
On this forum, some RWer can make a false claim and get instantly fact-checked by other members. But on Instagram, FB, X? Any rebuttal can be deleted by the owner of the account/page/group and the misinformation left standing. If the misinformation is promoting something harmful, like taking horse dewormer for a viral infection, there is harm involved. Shouldn't that platform be able to fact-check dangerous misinformation? Would liability to them be involved if someone died from unchallenged advice like in this example?

good.Meta is now granting its users new freedom to post a wide array of derogatory remarks about races, nationalities, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and gender identities, training materials obtained by The Intercept reveal.
Examples of newly permissible speech on Facebook and Instagram highlighted in the training materials include:
“Immigrants are grubby, filthy pieces of shit.”
“Gays are freaks.”
“Look at that tranny (beneath photo of 17 year old girl).”
The changes are part of a broader policy shift that includes the suspension of the company’s fact-checking program. The goal, Meta said Tuesday, is to “allow more speech by lifting restrictions.”

We are living in the time when the neo-fascist, theocrats and corporatist are coming into their own. Laws against monopolies have been whittled down to nothing, Civil Rights laws are being hollowed out, women have NO control over their personal reproductive rights (nor do their doctors), corporations are treating like living human beings in court, pharmaceutical companies are less accountable for bad products foisted on the citizenry, money is considered "free speech", racist, slanderous rhetoric is "free speech" without consequence of law, higher education is becoming more elitist, the working class, working middle class and even some middle class folk are bearing more and more of the taxes to fill the nations coffers while the upper middle, wealthy and inherited wealthy get bigger tax breaks, social services are under attack while corporations get federal subsidies to relocate manufacturing off-shore. I could go on, but folk like you and me know this already. The sad thing that many of our resident maga/neocon/teabagger/libertarian/alt-right folk either don't realize, are in denial or are delusional to think that all this won't eventually effect them directly. Like the late, great George Carlin once said, "It's a big club .... and YOU ain't in it!"

Carolla came to public attention co-hosting The Man Show with Jimmy Kimmel. After that run, he co-hosted a radio show with Dr. Drew Pinsky back in the 1990's I believe. I remember him talking about growing up working class, and marveling at how he could BS his way into jobs just because he was an articulate white guy. I only heard bits and parts on late night radio, because I thought it was kind of weird to have a comedian on a show that had teens calling in about substance abuse problems.
Then he showed up on "The Radio Chick" show.... a comedy show dealing with current topics hosted by Leslie Gold in the early 2000's. He got canned due to "not taking the show's work ethic seriously enough" according to Gold.
I guess it's more profitable now to jump on the MAGA oppressed white man wagon.

Apparently the 1st Amendment has a certain appeal around which people might even wish to form a republic, moreso a platform for communication.

Because communication platforms allow all ideas, not merely the ones deemed appropriate by ThatOwlCoward's mindless collective. It turns out that wherever censorship exists, only disinformation, propaganda and lies are allowed. The truth is always the first thing censored. This is why you and the cowardly collective leftists are always so desperate for censorship.
