Lefty racism

To identify Trump's rhetoric about people going "back to where they came from" as racist is just wrong. Race is not a geographic thing, so it is racist to imply that Trump's rhetoric has anything to do with race. Hating America is not a race, so these America-hating lefties that Trump referred to were not identified as a race. Since racism is about race, and Trump did not identify any race, there cannot be racism. Lefties however, show their racism by implying that "back where they came from" is a designated place where a certain race is from.

Telling non-white people to "go back to your country" is a common trope. Three of these women were born in America and all four of them are American citizens. So the comments made no sense outside of this common trope that non-white people aren't American, even if born here. Keep in mind that Trump has also never said this to a white person, even ones that he hates like Pelosi and Biden.

It's like when people say the Holocaust didn't happen. Could a person just honestly believe the Holocaust didn't happen? Sure. But denying the Holocaust is a common trope used against Jews. If someone were to tell four Jewish congress officials that they need to stop complaining about the Holocaust because it didn't happen, we would all know that person was being anti-semitic.

I think you're smart enough to know that Trump did this to play to the Alt-Right. And personally, I agree with him. To be American, you have to be white. I just don't understand why his supporters won't admit that they feel the same way.

This is really funny. I think Trump would rather be called racist. Brit Hume has just called Trump stupid, a liar, showing an extreme dislike or fear of foreigners and believing that the native born are more important than those that are foreign born.

Hell, with that definition what's a little racism thrown in

Brit Hume

@brithume
Trump’s “go back” comments were nativist, xenophobic, counterfactul and politically stupid. But they simply do not meet the standard definition of racist, a word so recklessly flung around these days that its actual meaning is being lost.

American is not a race.

American is not a race.

Yes, it's an ethnicity. I believe that you have to be white in order to belong to the American ethnicity.

Is that racist? I don't know. But Trump definitely said what he did in order to try to get people like me on his side.

Watch how they twist the plain meaning of language to pretend the statement is racist. In reality, they are racist because they believe only white people can handle criticism.

Nobody is saying Trump is racist for criticizing non-white people. The accusation is that he's using a common racial trope by telling non-white people to go back to their countries, even though three of them were born here and all four have citizenship, and he has never said this to white people he hates.

That’s exactly what you’re saying except you stretch the plain meaning of language to do so. He didn’t even use their names, but here you are assuming he’s talking about the POC’s.

We all know he's talking about the Squad. He didn't even try denying it when they replied to him.

You know because you assumed. You assumed because they have different skin colors.

Yes, because I'm familiar with this trope. It's a common trope used against non-white people.

Like I said earlier in this thread, if someone were to tell Jewish congress officials to stop talking about the Holocaust because it didn't happen, I will assume that this person is being anti-semitic because Holocaust denial is a common anti-semitic trope.

Let's also not forget the following.
Trump never said this to a white person he hates, like Biden or Pelosi.
Three of these women are from America.
All four of them have American citizenship.

The comments ONLY make sense if you understand he's saying that non-white people aren't American.

It only makes sense if you assume he used the “common trope” because of their skin-color, not for any other reason. The problem is all you can see is their skin color, make assumptions based on their skin color, and cannot get past their skin color.

That's nonsense. When people call the Squad "Communists," I think that's totally fucking stupid, but I know it has nothing to do with race. However, if someone says something racial that was commonly said to black and brown people, I'm going to accept that it is racial.

If someone told a group of Jews that the Holocaust never happened, would you see that as anti-semitic? Or would you just say, well he just doesn't believe the Holocaust happened, that's fair.
