Less Republicans believe in Evolution today than in 2009

????....now you're going to claim a single celled creature was NOT our common ancestor?.......what is it that YOU believe about evolution?.....

What he believes is not necessary the same thing as the scientific theory called evolution!

I believe in Creationism and evolution.

There's nothing mutually exclusive about both beliefs.

I believe life has evolved from what the Creator created.

I can respect this theory and it is close to my own. The Creator created evolution. But I still believe the theory of evolution as observed and described by science.

I think what right-wing Americans 'believe' in is what will cause 'em least trouble and bring in most trade - in other words, cynical nonsense. Must be a bit like Franco Spain over there. Weird!

Obama is not a time tested scientific theory.

Evolution, like gravity is!

The Law of Gravity is not quite the same level as the Theory of Evolution. Although Evolution has a very strong support of evidence, thus is a Theory and not a Hypothesis, Gravity has a bit more oomph, hence the level of "Law".

Now there are theories attached to gravity (Theory of Gravitation would be one), but the Law of Gravity is a bit stronger than any Theory.

People do misunderstand the difference between Scientific Theory and the more conversational theory. Evolution has an incredible amount of supporting evidence.

so, if we believe that human beings are taller than they were thousands of years ago, does that mean we have to think we evolved from amoebas?.........

Either what is left of the Tea Party will suffer a setback or the GOP will pull defeat from the jaws of victory.
Marriage equality will continue it's march forward but maybe at a slower rate.
Marijuana legalization and medical marijuana may pick up some momentum.
There will be some reform of the NSA but it will be very underwhelming.
The Libertarian Party will set some of record for moral victories from negligible vote total that are nevertheless bigger than the margin of victory.
StomfrontX and his buddies ila, nova, silly rabbit, big phony, td and other ignorant klansmen will continue to wet the bed over black crime and fear that homosexuals will seduce/fool them, again.
pmp will continue his stand-in role for ditzy and say something really stupid.
Grind will pretend to be a libertarian and atheist while supporting government action against immigrants/minorities and handouts/privileges for the rich and socially conservative. I will remain the real deal.
.

Ok, true.

This larger percentage of Republicans living in lala land might just be a good sign. It may indicate that the intelligent soul of the Republican party has left and all that remains is the lunatic fringe. If that is the case, maybe we can get a new party with intelligent conservatives and leave the social conservatives behind.

The far right wing social conservatives are not unlike Stalin who believed all science/facts should be viewed through a political lens. For instance, their arguments against evolution are often premised on the idea that without their faith there is no reason to be moral.

There are plenty of other examples I could list, but their denial of evolution is probably the clearest.

The ideas of free markets and limited government need to be extracted from the death grip of these liars and fools. They are headed towards extinction and their denial of evolution and other facts will soon go the way of their intellectual ancestors denial of heliocentrism.

People often confuse what they want to have be true with what evidence shows them is true.

You have to understand the right wing mind. It's filled with pettiness, relentless resentments, spite, and vengeance. In their minds, acknowledging evolution would be the same as admitting to climate change; a big win for the hated liberals. They are quite willing to cut off their own faces, never mind noses, and sell their children's futures right down the drain, in order to prevent this dread event from occurring. As long as liberals insist on evolution being real, they will insist it is not. If every liberal would only come out tomorrow and claim that climate change simply does not exist, then you would see us get some shit done about the problem, because en masse, the righty hive mind would start percolating resentments and eventually spit out the new truism that climate change was real and the liberals were trying to kill us all by pretending it's not.

That's just how they are. that's why I not only don't like them online, but I don't hang with them in real life either. It's not about "politics". It's about deep-rooted, collective personality disorders.

The above is also true of left wing pettiness...

1) Pretending a life isn't a life so that they can justify killing it... hence they too dismiss science when the science goes against their ideology
2) Pretending MAN is the primary cause for climate change, while also pretending those with opposing views are somehow claiming that the climate doesn't change. In other words... they lie through their teeth to further their religious beliefs in man made global warming.

Some do, not all.

???....if one denies creation and doesn't believe humans evolved from single celled creatures, WHERE do they think humans came from?........

Higga Digga Embowelee should feel free to answer as well, as he seemed to think my question was laughable.......

???....if one denies creation and doesn't believe humans evolved from single celled creatures, WHERE do they think humans came from?........

I don't know, aliens? Or that creation happened at a different level, at a point of multi-celled organisms but before humanity.

Both stories as plausible as the traditional Christian version of Creation.

Additionally, to believe evolution occurs does not require one to have an explanation of how or what life was when it began.

A new Pew Poll shows that only 43% of Republicans believe humans evolved as compared to 54% in 2009. Lack of education and religiosity tend to be the major reasons why.

The GOP...going backwards since 1980!

33% of Democrats also do not believe in evolution...
